Maybe someone out there can design/produce this:

It's been said that the JT hardtop is light and could be carried by one person except that it's too bulky to remove over the bed. How about a system, maybe utilizing the trail rail system, that allows the hardtop to be gently laid back onto a carrier and rolled back by one person over the bed rails, to the rear and over the tailgate, where it can land on some type of stand (which may be the same device used to roll it over the bed rails)?

Cool idea. Where are our engineers.
My problem with all of this will be storage
Where am I going to put the roof?
I know a lot of Wrangler peeps have a pulley/tackle system. Not sure if my garage ceiling is high enough for that.
But I do like your way of thinking.

It can’t be that bad if you open the back window and fist it from there right? I haven’t taken delivery yet but I would imagine that would allow decent balance to move it around.

If you have a garage it's millimeters of clearance. Back under straps, lift just high enough to get a hook of some sort under, then drive out. The problem is if you have anything in the bed like roll bars, or a tool box; anything over the bed is your high point for clearance. I tried the wheeled portage concept for my wrangler. Goofy as shit, hits a pebble, won't stay tight together or to wall. I guess you could weld or erector set a thing for integrity, but for me only if no roof to lift and hang it.

All they had to do was 4 piece the JT top and racks or anything else in the bed wouldn't matter. Simple solution for simple problem that FCA dropped the ball on.

Couldn't someone just open the sliding window and stand in the bed and lift it off once it's all unbolted?

? This. I was so surprised when I went looking at the Gladiators that the back part of the top was all one piece. I just assumed it was a top piece over the rear seats and the back window separate - because it's so obvious. It's crazy that they didn't engineer it like that.
