Thank you for this post. I ordered a cheap 200-piece trim removal tool set from Amazon and used the pick and a wide, flat pry-tool (plus super-long screwdriver). Without that pick, I think I would have lost my mind removing the bed rails. I had to laugh at the provided instructions saying to use a butter knife and come at them from the outside (!). I used an LED flashlight in low-power mode as a prop to hold up the rail as I went along. Using a pair of reading glasses for magnification really helped, too....was able to pry up the rail and slip a pick in to release each clip.
With pressure pushing up the rail, each side of the clip released with a distinct ‘SNAP’!...
@DiamondBack Covers – You should consider making custom Gladiator aluminum bed rail caps with matching tailgate rail cap as optional and/or as a stand-alone product. I would have thrown a wallet full of cash at you for that upgrade.
Two things I noticed in the instructions that could be improved/fixed for my HD install: 1.) When showing where the shims go, say "Install them to the rear/tailgate side of the oval hole". In the one photo you show, it can be easy to get the orientation confused. 2.) The printed directions say to install the front driver's side safety bar catch to the outer nut (seems to be correct), but the sticker on the bar itself says to install it on the gas strut mounting point and then put on the gas strut over it (may be an older method). Or maybe I just misread one or both, but it's confusing.
