How do you know it crystalized? Did you pull the DEF injector to see if there was deposit buildup?

The Platinum does a much better job at reducing deposit buildup than non-additivated.
How long does it sit before you use it?

I posted my response in the wrong thread, so let me post again. I have too many tabs open!

I don't think I've let DEF sit for more than 6 months in the box, but it can sit for 8+ months in the Jeep Gladiator. We've been averaging about 3,000 miles per year in the Jeep.

Between three diesel vehicles, we've been averaging 2.08 - 2.29 gallons per month for the last 5 years.

2021 DEF Consumption: 25 gallons (2.08 gallons per month)
2022 DEF Consumption: 25 gallons (2.08 gallons per month)
2023 DEF Consumption: 27.5 gallons (2.29 gallons per month)
2024 DEF Consumption: 25 gallons (2.08 gallons per month)
2025 DEF Consumption: 27.5 gallons (2.29 gallons per month)

Our 2015 Ram EcoDiesel now meetings eligibility for the GDE Afterlife Tune, so this will probably be the last year that we use DEF in the 2015 Ram. That should drop our annual DEF consumption by at least 10 gallons per year.

No it dripped on the fill neck of my Sprinter and thought it would not crystalize but I guess that is not how it work?

That's correct. DEF will turn into a white crusty substance when the water within it evaporates. Here's a cut and paste from a study that tested additivated DEF:

“This study has shown that the use of dedicated additives in DEF was an effective solution to significantly reduce urea related deposit formation below 200*C which could help OEMs to optimize SCR systems for cold and/or urban operating conditions.”

I noticed platinum lasts longer between fills. It’s a little more expensive but good to know it’s worth it. Thank you.

I like watch this channel. He shows that the Peak Platinum had bigger particles. I was Surprised on this?

I can appreciate the guy taking samples to test for cleanliness, but that's not a very scientific method for testing it. You can't pull a small sample from one jug and believe that sample represents every jug.

The holes on a DEF injector get clogged due to DEF deposits (hardened urea crystals) that buildup around the DEF injector. Platinum DEF is designed to minimize those crystals.

Before Platinum, I was using Walmart's Super Tech DEF. During that time, I had the DEF injector cleaned once (under warranty) and replaced once (under warranty). Due to my short commutes, the regular DEF caused too much deposit buildup.

I switched to Platinum DEF when it was released in 2020. I haven't had any DEF issues, and I use Platinum in all three EcoDiesel trucks (2015 Ram, 2020 Ram, and 2023 Gladiator).

Is the Peak Platinum better or more trust worthy over the Travelers Premium you think?

I don't know. Personally, I trust Platinum over the Traveller Premium, but I don't have anything to back that up. I just know that people have run many tests with the Platinum and impressed when they pull the DEF injector. I will say that the pour spout on the Platinum is easier to thread and easier to pour from since it's longer than the one that comes on the Premium brand. Even though the Traveller is cheaper, I will continue to run Platinum.
