I've been looking around at a bunch of different brands of wheels and some of them are well known and some are not. Leaning towards either a green or bronze finished wheel for a mojave.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to the specific brands of wheels? Good bad or indifferent?

I am running Black Rhino's and so far I am happy.

I'll be ordering some Methods for my RAM soon only because BR does not make the offset I need.

Method bead grips have been great for me. Taken a beating from rock crawling and still do great.

What you can do to narrow your search would be to look at brands that offer the right combinations of what best suits your needs.

While we all want wheels that look great, they don't always come in the best offset configurations for our vehicles, especially if you're in a Rubicon or Mojave with wide axles and high fenders.

Many wheel makers target the broadest fitment audience they can by offering 0 offset and and farther out.
That's fine and typically necessary for the more mainstream pickups and SUV's, but Jeeps are built a little differently, and moving from a -37 or -44 offset to zero is a substantiable hit on your stock geometry.

Several vendors, and eBay actually does this very well too, offer filtering tools that help you to narrow your searches. I always start with width, then offset, then colors.
You'll see a lot of wheel disappear from the menu pretty quickly that way.

But please don't just jump on something because it's pretty and you think it'll look cool on your Gladiator. Function and useability should be your primary concerns.

POKE

Tires extended beyond the protection of the fenders offer some advantages and many disadvantages.
Poke can be helpful in tight rock climbing and running deep ruts, keeping the body and fenders away from rocks, vertical surfaces, etc. that may damage them.
But poke also gives forces that try to break axle shafts, knuckles, and other components more leverage to use against them.
It can affect handling and drivability. It means mud, rocks, snow, road salts, and more will be given more access to the sides and fenders of your vehicle. Rocks can even be flung skyward and forward for you to drive back through and crack a windshield.

MATH

1 inch = 25.4 mm
For every inch of wheel or tire width you add, you want to compensate for that in increased offset of 1/2", or 13 mm, because offset is measure from the centerline.
So a Rubicon that starts at -44 mm on a 7.5" wide rim will need about -31 mm offset to stay even with the same tire on an 8.5" wide rim, because the additional rim width moved the inside edge a half inch closer and the outside edge about a half inch farther out.

One thing to keep in mind, if you plan to lift, look at the different lift manufacturer's specifications for recommended backspacing to work with their lift.

Thanks for all the info. Definitely was aware and taking that into account when I get my new wheels but while we’re talking about it let me know if I’m going down the right path.

I was leaning towards a +18 offset with a 1” wider wheel for a Mojave.

If my math is right a 23” offset would keep it the same as stock but with a +18 it will be about 1/4” difference which I didn’t think would cause much of an issue. Other than aev wheels there’s not much with this high of a positive offset. Appreciate any insight and or corrections.

My original question though was more around brands and quality associated with those brands. Ive seen some posts about issues with black rhinos but they are all old so I’m assuming they figured them out. Is there any brands that y’all recommend to stay away from or are more people indifferent.

If you got with a 1" wider wheel and stay with the 11.5" width on the tires, the tires will relax on the rims slightly more. Not a lot, but think about loosening your belt after Thanksgiving dinner. Same theory.

+37 - 13 = +24, so the +18 should be excellent for 11.5" to 12.5" wide tires with no lift or with a minor lift up to 2". It gives you about a 1/4" (6 mm) to allow for the relax.
You will be more susceptible to losing bead seat on the stock tires, but the Mojave is built to move, not to crawl.

Check out RockTrix wheels. I stumbled upon them , got a set for my JKU before selling it. Really nice quality with fit & finish. Price was really good too. Only thing is they only come in 17" & 20"

I've always thought that if the stock Mojave wheels were a different style, then people would want wheels that look like the stock Mojave wheels.

I love the look and I love the design. Super easy to clean and maintain.
I only swapped out the chrome nuts for black ones.

I would also check the weight of the wheels your choosing. Quite a few people discount the added weight but when combined with the tires you eventually choose it will affect your mpg. That may or may not be a concern of yours, but something to be aware of.
