The whole duck thing is kinda cool. I used to give the rubber ducks to my pooches to chew up,

Then I would see what was left of them in the worst places. Usually in dog vomit form, found by my wife while in her bare feet. Typically at a 3AM potty call. I always chuckled a little and then got up to clean up the mess.

Now, when I find one on one of our Jeeps. I look around the parking lot and re-gift it. Pay it forward.

I was at the Gas station a couple months ago and a guy walks up to be after pulling in in a JL and says hey here's a duck if ya dont care I said I guess not . It had a tag with his first name and Jeep club. I tore the tag off thrower in the trash threw the duck to the dogs when I got home and it was chewed to bits and pieces in 2 days .
Unfortunately, one of our pooches would eat the rubber ducks. Like Mikey, he eats everything.

It's only a gift if someone wants it. If there's a Jeep nearby with a bunch of ducks stuck to the dash I'm happy to leave it there since that person wants to play the game. If not, it's getting yeeted into the nearest trashcan.

On Reddit a while ago someone was on bitching because they bought a bulk bag of ducks and were driving around leaving them on everything with a Jeep logo they could find. Apparently someone walked out to their vehicle while this person and their kid were still within sight, tossed the duck in the trash and drove off. Bulk Ducker was on Reddit whining about how people "are cruel and mean and awful in every way to throw away this litter that was left on their car and not proudly display it on the dash for the sake of the child they didn't know was there - and how dare they hurt the kid's feelings and make them cry by throwing away the duck."

Of course anyone saying "Hey, only play with people who want to play" got called "child-haters" and people who "hate fun" along with a dozen other things.

Really made me change my mind to enjoy absolutely fucking despise the whole ducking thing.

Ya know, there are extremes in this duck case dealio.

To some, (to most), it is having fun with these rubber ducks. A fun comradery of fellow Jeepers. A giggle and a laugh. No harm no foul. I am good with that. I re-gift the ducks and hope that nobody shoots me when I do. But it's all in fun. It's not like they burned my Tesla. I don't own a Tesla, just sayin'.

To others, they are offended that a stranger gets close to their Jeep. They might want to sue you. Angry will be angry. Grumps will be Grumps.

Or if they are duck placer by intent, they shouldn't be offended if the grumpy old recipient pitches it into a trash can.

I say, let it go. Love is the answer. If don't like the ducks, and you see a man or woman with their kids placing ducks on Jeeps. Have some courtesy and throw it away at home. Just say thank you and move along. You know that it was placed out of the Jeep membership ideology, Nothing in anger.

I don't know about all of you, but if get a Jeep wave from a Jeep going the other way on the road. I don't flip them off. I wave or two finger peace them back.

I used to be a lot more "live and let live" with the ducking thing, but I've been literally shouted at and called names for just saying "thanks but no thanks" way too many times. It's made me dig in my heels; it's about a much fun as a work team building day.

I've completely lost my chill about the whole thing and I no longer care if you see me toss the damn thing or if someone gets butthurt about it. If you can't handle someone tossing that trash you shouldn't risk that outcome by putting it on vehicles you don't know.

Sorry, Not Sorry as the kids used to say.

Or maybe this one.

And then you might get option one or option two. One is good two is a restraining order and a record... Option two can still happen if false advertising.

Well, I don't do the Facebook, Reddit or really any of the mass " put your life out there things" I'm on some forums and groups. Heck I don't even watch TV so I don't get into the b.s. drama stuff.
Yesterday, I was in Lowes and when I came out someone had put a duck on my door handle. Thanks for it whoever. Many of the ducks that I get are passed on to someone else. If it makes someone happy the giver or the receiving person good. The prior rubber duck that I got was from a little girl and her mother as I was at a UPS store it made the little girls day to be giving away them. FYI: they were in a new Cherokee.
I can be a S.O.B, it was my job to be one for many years and part of the job description really. Part of the job of being an NCO in the Army infantry and as a LEO at parts of that job. But, I have and do turn it off. Depending on who you were talking to about me you would hear of me of being a nice person others definitely not. But being nice is a easier path to be on, but always ready to change to the other. So in short of you don't want or like "f###ing rubber ducks" what ever. That reminds me I need to get some of the "little pony's" to stick on the broncos.

Respectfully, Sir or Ma'am: I would ask you to take a breath, It's just a fun game for kids. This whole Jeep duck thing. Why so serious over adults acting like kids to NO HARM?

No stress, no drama. Just say something like; "Thank you, Jeeps are cool", or just "Thank You". And toss it in the trash at home if that's how you feel.

It is your prerogative to like or hate 'jeep rubber ducks'. And I don't read into SUB-messages of the color or shape of rubber ducks deposited on my Jeeps. (But I have never seen the x-rated ones shown in this thread. WTF? Really)?

Anyway, It's mostly about children. Actual children and or the child-like person deep inside all of us. And fellow people that like Jeeps.

The ad rubber ducks don't bother me either. I just don't buy what I don't want. I am older and am not offended by solicitors in a parking lot.

Life is short. Enjoy it, if you can. If you can find that place.
It's a toy duck on your Jeep given by a stranger who also likes Jeeps!

Be well. Try to be happy. Jeep on.

Eric

I've read about some very aggressive behavior from folks that just plain, dispise the duck. That is certainly thier prerogative, Similar to TDS, instead DDS.

I myself, think it's kinda cool and would never admonish or get mad at someone trying to give me a quacker.
Lifes too short. 🦆

I’ve re-gifted a few ducks. I remember…. I was in the grocery store parking lot and this guy walked up to me and gave me a red vampire duck. I said my THANK YOU’s and was happy for it (of course). There was something ‘creepy’ about the situation (and that guy) that made me check my rearview mirror a little closer than normal that day. 😳

Everytime I’d look at that duck, I’d get that creepy feeling.

I re-gifted it only a few days later.

So…don’t take offense (or read into) any ducks…sometimes, they just need to be passed on!! 😉

Funny living in New Yawk, which is often rated the most inhospitable state in our Constitutional Republic, I've never had a bad ducking. Maybe because it IS that inhospitable? Walking to the gym on day I see a very nicely optioned JEEP, and reach into my gym bag for a DUCK, This is in the town always in the running for the most murders. As I walked up, I noticed a Woman sitting in the cab. She's wondering what I'm doing. I gave her the international signal for rolling down the window a little, she does, and I slip the DUCK through her partially opened window. Her whole countenance changed, I was one of her clan, I waved and began to walk away. She yelled "Wait, wait!" and clambered out her JEEP went in the back and gave me one of her stash of DUCKS. So far, only very pleased folks.
