Do I need a tazer for this thing

Reverse blanking is one of the Tazer features that stopped working reliably on my diesel (glad you reminded me of that). I ended up getting a wiring harness for it, since I really missed it when not working. I’ll keep saying this, people’s experience with Tazer on gas engines may not be the same as with diesel.

One LIVE function JSCAN doesn't support is license plate blanking in reverse. You CAN make a wire harness to do this, but JSCAN cannot do this. And THAT is extremely useful if you drive at night. Maybe not so much if you live in a big WELL LIT city, but most anywhere the lighting isn't daylight bright, this feature IS helpful.

Yeah like I said, just depends on your priorities. I've got a reverse facing rearview mirror camera I primarily use but I also thought the plate lights were just kind of an annoying design flaw but not a hindrance.

When I did still have the tazer I was using it to disable the triple horn honk but it would only work 9/10 times, which to me was worse than just honking every time.

A taser can cause glitches with the canbus communication due to how this type of devices bypassed the security gate box. Personally, i wouldn't leave one connected at all time.
