i wanted LED lights & colored fenders & 8.4 screen also leather, but knew i didn't want a rubicon i had one before. FYI all the Gladiators have big brakes front twin piston 12.9" and rear single piston 13.6" max tow might have different pads. i also have the trac-lock in the rear. i knew i would replace almost everything under the Jeep like every Jeep since 1983 i've had. Rockawler 3" lift with king shocks & JKS,rockrawler, clayton control arms, Yetti, synergy, RPM & JKS steering parts it rides great & does not even sag when towing my 5000# camper. remember Jeep is so much whatever you make it or enjoy it stock .

All JT's have heavy duty axles & brakes , my Overland has the regular tow package that has everything the MAX tow has except 1.5" wider axle that helps in towing & 4.11 gears. they all have 32 spline axle shafts that are really big. it will off-road just as good but not better than the rubicon because lockers. i re-geared to 5.13's with 37's it is awesome like all JT's

Nice rig! Did you add lockers when you had the 5.13s installed? "it will off-road just as good but not better than the rubicon because lockers." I'm thinking that is a NO, but just verifying. I spent 2 weeks in CO this month and the BLD did everything I needed and felt comfortable doing. I'm considering leaving the diffs open after that and keep going back and forth over 4.88 or 5.13.

Also, does the max tow get a higher rated fan? I was reading an article somewhere that mentioned that.

No lockers yet i have rear factory Limited slip & BLd works remarkably well but neither will substitute lockers. The regular tow option gives you the large fan motor, alternator, battery hitch & all but 4.11 gears & wider axles. Here is a picture of my larger amp cooling fan motor

Replying over here instead of in the "Just Ordered" thread for my thoughts on "Why Max Tow?"

I ordered a 2021 Max Tow because it gets me the better gear ratio for towing/bigger tires/heavy loads, the wider axle so bigger tires will be less likely to rub on a stock setup. It also looks like the Max Tow springs are in 2nd/3rd place behind Mojave/Rubicon (lots say the prefer the Max Tow springs over the Rubicon) for street driving. To get it where I want. all I need to do is get some gas shocks, possibly a small leveling kit and I can do 35" tires without any additional work. I'll never go 37" and even shy away from the weight/tire width that comes with 35". So... this works perfect for my needs. The limited slip diff has been perfect for my needs on my Wrangler Unlimited, I'll presume that to be the same on the Truck.

Conditions that matter to me?
  • I will never rock crawl in this, so don't need front/rear lockers. - LSD wins
  • Lots of street/highway driving so smaller/lighter tires for the win.
  • Will be more likely to carry weight in the back, rather than tow... so springs are designed for that.
While the Tow Capacity and Load are mostly legal numbers, I definitely appreciate that I get the biggest numbers with this build as well. I'll be hauling 4 adult sized humans and 2 medium sized dogs, so eager to be sprung to accommodate that + all our gear.

For me, it is almost exactly $5k to go to a Rubicon or Mojave from what I got. The Rubicon was never in the running due to lockers & lower gear transfer case, so I only really considered the Mojave. I might regret not getting the Mojave later, but I can get close enough to that on my own so I'll be ok.
