I saw this molle at an exhibition some time ago.
It is basically hanging outside the car and has no contact with the metal of the car body (it should be fixed by the edge of the bed and the bottom of the truck), so it should not dent the body due to hanging too heavy things.
What do you think of this? Do you think it is useful?

Nope.

If I needed that much storage potential I would delete the bed entirely and do some kind of bespoke solution.

-That truck can’t be washed, not easily at least.
-Anything hanging on those increases the truck’s width making maneuvering more difficult.
-Similar to the above but a tree is going to do off whatever you put on there.
-Lastly, it’s ugly, IMHO.

I can probably understand the points you made, especially the items hanging from the car body being scraped off by the tree, which reminds me of these products at the 2024 SEMA, which may be similar in nature.

I could be wrong, but I feel like if you made a Venn diagram of the people who would want something like this and the people who buy grumpers it would just be a circle.

I see ~100 lbs of extra weight on the tailgate, at all times, wearing out the soft open spring.

Put this on the road in salt country for a few years with someone who doesn’t want to fully disassemble it and clean every nook & cranny (because you know no one would). Now you’re driving down the highway, hit a pothole, and something sheers off and final destinations someone behind you.

There are plenty of areas where a company could “make a better mousetrap” but this isn’t one of them.

The tailgate could be useful, or handy for some. Be good to hang a trash collection bag off of, I'd like to protect the tailgate on mine from being scratched to crap.
The side stuff seems silly to me unless you are trying to rig up a un-armoured gun truck to hang s### all over it.
