Does anyone know what the tabs are for on the back of the knee kick panel that goes under the steering column?
I have mounted my brake controller(redarc) and now the panel wont fit.
If it is for an accessory (power inverter for bed maybe) then I will remount the controller in another configuration. I hate cutting panels but if they serve no purpose then off they come.

Yep.. sorry I'm being a smart ass it might have been the planned mountings for OEM brake control or other add on like inverter too.
If in the way why not trim it off the plastic should be low cost enough to replace if needed late... note not a computer chip.

Yeah I looked up the part on mopar parts site. About 55 bucks for panel.
Just didnt want to cut it, if it was intended for some factory option I might add such as the power inverter. It seemed like a good place to hide an inverter.... If that is what it is for.
Like i said. I am not a big fan of cutting panels or extrusions of said panels if there is a definate use for them.

Same thing with button for the controller. Not a fan of drillng holes in the panels.
But, i think found an alternate solution for the mount without eliminating the 12 volt outlet or drilling holes. I think I can mount it on the steering column adjustment lever. It should be secure enough not to move, it is easily accessible and it doesnt cut any panels

I went with the redarc. I needed one asap last year and found it at my local camping world. They had the harness there too. Was able to get the harness that did not require any diodes or wire swaps. I'll post pics later after I get the switch mounted too. But, i think i Have settled on mounting it to the lever for adjusting the steering column
Some zip ties should hold. Not the prettiest mount, but non permanent and no holes in any panels.
I guess ill just cut the tabs from the back of the panel. Not sure if i am just being lazy though.

The inverter mounts on the other side of the bracket behind that panel.

More than likely those are just to strengthen the panel so it doesn't flex easily.

I only need it for my travel trailer that is maybe, exaggeratedly, 5,000lbs when fully loaded. I feel that it works well enough. You can also mount it flush on the dash and not lose your cigarette lighter / outlet like you would with the Mopar kit which is why I went with this one.

The only minor annoyance from me is that when there is no trailer connected the thing still lights up when you are on the brake in a bright blue LED. It’s not supper annoying, but annoying enough for me to notice every once in a while. When the trailer is connected it lights up red.
