I just put on 285/75/17 tires on my OE wheels. For my 5th wheel spare tire, if I'm going to spend the money for a matching 5th tire I would rather put that on a matching Aluminum OE wheel. I noticed the bore on the steel wheel is much larger than the bore on the aluminum wheel. I measured the center cap knowing the bore will be slightly smaller and its questionable that the tire carrier bracket will fit through the hole. Does anybody know if the spare tire carrier bracket will work with a Aluminum OE wheel? Including a pic of my Jeep to show what wheels I have.

Also, Ill add a TPMS sensor. Would I have to program the new sensor to the truck or will the truck automatically pick it up when it starts spinning after I rotate the spare in after the first tire rotation?

Thanks in Advance!

The spare will fit down there just fine. If I can stuff an aftermarket wheel with a 37 down there, your stock one will work. Worst case scenario try pulling a stock wheel off and putting it under there just to make sure.

Make sure you get the right year sensor or it won’t work for you. New sensors started mid 2021, so if yours is newer than you’ll need the right one.

I have a Mojave wheel with a 35 as a spare. It fits fine but it was a snug fit getting the tire carrier bracket through though.

I have a factory aluminum Rubicon wheel for a spare and the spare tire hanger fits through. As Kilroy said it is tight but does go through.

My '21 JT purchased in '23 with 35s came with no spare.
I tucked in a used OE JK alloy wheel given to me without difficulty.
When I traded by Fuel Fusion mounted 35s
for OE wheels off a '23 JT
we also traded spares.
The tire shop replaced the worn spare tire on the JK wheel
with a very nice used 35-inch metric equivalent for nothing
and successfully installed it in the spare wheel well.
Because mine was pre June 21 build
the sensors had to be swapped also.

I've run 5 matching wheels and tires on both of my Overland - stock wheels, similar to stock size A/T tires.
Bought the correct sensor for the 5th wheel when I got my 2022 (since the sensor for the 2020 wouldn't work)
When I do a 5 tire rotation, it simply works - no programming needed.

Check with Benny here allmoparparts.com a forum sponsor - he's the guy i bought a set of sensors from a while back - good price, proper genuine Mopar parts, it all just worked.

Sounds like I'm the only one so far that had a flat on a factory aluminum wheel, swapped on the factory steel spare, popped out the plastic center cap and stowed the alu wheel. I never stopped to think about whether it would work, but it definitely did. Yah there is kind of a tight fit with the hanger and the stiff cable that sticks out of it - crank out more cable slack so you can bend the cable around a little harder, and it goes through no problem.

Any lift on your truck or is that factory suspension? I like the ratio of tire to fender space.

No lift! I'm thinking about putting a front leveling spacer up front just to get rid of the front rake. Otherwise I'm happy with it. The tires lifted the truck up 3/4".

Following up incase someone else references this thread. Here is a picture of my new spare OEM Sport wheel mounted. As everyone stated the mount just barely fit through the hub hole.
