It is about an inch or so too high. For a while, I ran a 19.5" tall Yeti Tundra haul in mine with the Stock Tonneau and I was able to close the Factory Tonneau, but, it did stick up on the sides. I was not able to get the ice chest between the bars on the Tonneau frame, so, the Tonneau stuck up a few inches. If it rained, water would have probably got in on the sides. I since got the three fold rugged ridge tonneau cover, which is even more restrictive on height, so, the Yeti Tundra Haul is out now.

The Rubbermaid Action Packer 24 gallon container at 16.9" high just fits in my Gladiator under the factory Tonneau Cover. Note that I do have the Bedrug on the floor so that adds about an inch (probably less) to the clear space. I'd say anything over 17" will likely not fit under the factory tonneau.

Ok, may be I’ll check for ARB Element... it’s like 17.1. I’m closer to 17, so may be fit better.

Please let us know what you find... I'm interested in the Element, too.

Oh man - I went through this same exercise these past two weeks:
  • Wanted the new Dometic 75 or 95 or 100 fridges (dealer is a buddy) but too tall
  • my ARB 47 Classic 1 is too tall so sold that
  • the Element is too tall if you want to mount it on a slide which is something I wanted
  • so: ended up getting the ARB 60 Classic II with a Snowmaster slide and they BOTH fit perfect (OEM Berliner, and took out the rubber mat flooring on the slide)...no other slide would work...it was the shallowest of them all...
Here are some pictures...

Hey guys!

Just wanted to share my findings/install. I had my heart set on one of the new Dometic CFX3 55IM. I measured, and scratched my head and measured some more.

I don't really need a slide, I didn't want to loose valuable tailgate space and I wanted the fridge to be easily removeable. I'm happy accessing the fridge from the side of the truck, even with 37s and 2 inch soacer lift I (6ft. Tall) reach to the bottom just fine. My short wife is fine with a 9" stool. Opening from the side is perfect for this style setup.

I had a crazy idea to remove one of the rails in the mopar factory tonneau, and it worked perfectly. Totally reversible. Just have to drill out 4 x ¹/⁸ rivets and the horizontal bar slips right out. Now my 19" tall fridge fits like a glove and doesn't raise the sides of the tonneau at all!!! I have Built Right Industries bedside molle panels that are perfect for tying/securing down the fridge with camlock straps. I ran 10 guage wired from the #2 aux switch underhood (green) wire above the frame rail and through a drilled hole in one of the rubber plugs in the front of the bed (bottom RH corner). Interninates the wires into an Amazon cigarette lighter/USB outlet and a home made small plywood box. I also jammed a piece of dense packing foam in between the bed wheel arch and the fridge side.

I'm very happy with the setup! Perfect solution for me while I wait for my RLD bed cap topper. But it turned out so nice, I would have been happy with it like this for years!

I know this is an old thread but I wonder how the fridge is working in the heat under the tonneau? I have a dometic that I used to run inside an SUV just wondering if the heat and lack of airflow under there causes any issues?

It works just fine with the Dometic. All it's vents are located down low anyways. I'm always careful not to jam anything too close to them.
