Don't call it a build - 23 Mojave

Going to make some actual changes to our 2023 Mojave shortly, kind of excited.

We picked it up new in 24. We drove 4runners and Tacomas and Bronco's, Wranglers and settled on the Gladiator for it's combination of ride quality and capability.

Specifically chose the Mojave because it can do any trail in Michigan I want to do stock and unmodified.

Here's it is the first time I saw it,

Day we brought it home after a week of negotiating with 2 dealers.

Went lots of places, had lots of fun, hauled little things, was purchased as my wifes daily.

Continued to see the world, have fun, and daily it with light mods, LOD bumper, tonneau cover, steps, that was it. Took us everywhere we wanted to go.

Eventually, we bought a new camper, Grand Design Transcend One, about 4k lbs, power wasn't there anymore, so I regeared it to 4.88 and partied on.

Wife changed jobs, started traveling and treating patients in their homes, get's 72 cents a mile and was running the clock up on the Gladiator, so...

Bought her a Tesla Model 3 Performance. She runs the thing 150-180 miles a, 5 days a week, and mileage puts about 90 bucks net in our pockets.

With the recent rise in diesel prices, I've been driving the Gladiator instead of my Ram. Long term the plan was always for me to inherit it, and have it replace our 88 4runner as a medium duty wheeling rig.

So, with that, I have a set of 5.38 gears on the way, a set of 37" Kanati Mud Hogs in the barn, and a set of Rocktrix wheels ready to powder coat. Just waiting for my AEV 2" lift and the spare time to put it all together!

I'd recommend a Metalcloak "Durotrak" rear track bar. It will allow you to have a 37 inch spare. There are other brands but I have experience with the Metalcloak bar and it works great. (I have no other relationship with Metalcloak)

When we were launching the JT, the dramatic difference in just appearance from stock to even a simple Budget Boost puck lift on 37's was striking to me.

I grew up in a time when 33's were big and 36's were huge. Not something Kyla from accounting could have tossed on her daily and have good manners to Trader Joe's and pilates.

So excited to finally make the changes I wanted from the start, but I won't have time to regear until the fourth holiday lol.

So I've kind of jumped the gun on this thread, but whatever.

Took your time and gettin it done right. Kudos. I’ve thought a lot about getting a slate or rivian suv in the future for commuting purposes. May have to look into that again sometime.

My point was that their track bar works well and that I have no other agenda or reason to recommend them. I do think Metalcloak is a great company. I have Metalcloak 3.5" dual rate coil springs on my Mojave as well.

I have a Slate reserved, I don't expect the price to be tempting with Ford now basically coming out with the same thing lol.

It’ll all come down to product quality and bells and whistles. Whoever makes the better product will get people’s money. I secretly hope slate knocks it out of the park.

I hemmed and hawed a lot about just doing 35's and keeping my 4.88 gears or going 37 and 5.38.

Making a nice profit on selling our cottage swayed me to just regear it again and get the set up I really want for the next 10-15 years lol.
