As stated, most certainly get your frame checked. You never know.

Sorry to see but glad you weren't in the truck

Now that the work week has begun, Let us know what the body shop thinks of the damage and what your looking at.

Hopefully that person had insurance so nothing will come out of your pocket besides the cost of your time. [Which is worth something]

Don't worry everyone. In situations like this he'll be back on the road again in no time!

OP, I hope you're back on the road again soon too.

Glad you're ok. I had a Tundra with similar damage. Between the damage and the 3 week rental from the other guy's insurance I think it was 3500. But my tailgate was ok, and yours does have some damage. The issue on mine was that in order to get that side off they just about had to take the bed off. However they did a great job and you'll never know it happened.

What I take from this and similar posts is that these Glads are tough sons of guns. My wifes Fusion has twice the airbags and other safety features the Glad doesn’t, but would have a lot more damage. Glad no one got hurt. DADD Dads Against Drunk Drivers.

Thank you all for the well wishes again. Just left it at the shop, they will be checking the frame and are going to update me in a few days. Surprisingly the tailgate works perfectly fine after getting towed to the shop. On top of that I was surprised none or the line X inside of the bed was cracked. Also working on plans for a nice 600 lb cement block project. No one will be coming off that hill to hit my jeep again lol.

I was asleep at the time in the house thankfully. Of course the drunk listening to blasting opera was perfectly fine. Poor jeep took it in the back driver side as his rav4 rolled. Just missed the front half. I guess I should thank the piles of snow from my snowblower for slowing him down some.

Now it looks like it's been on a decent trail! Don't fix a thing.

Glad you're ok. Do you know if he has insurance? Have you heard from the police if this was his first dd incident?

I can't believe how many times I read about guys getting arrested multiple times for drunk/drugged driving. Is your part of NY hard on these guys?

I had a Dodge Dakota that took a hard hit to the driver side bumper. The box was ok, but they still had to remove it to repair the damage to the CAB! The bed flexed and cracked the paint. Never would have looked at that before the guy showed it to me.

No idea if it was his first dd or not. He has Allstate as his insurance. Of course in NY, he was probably out the next day in a rental.

WHO TV did a story a few years ago where they got the public records on people who had lost or were losing their license that day for things like driving drunk and other offenses.
They had a camera in the court room and recorded the judge taking their license away, telling them for how long and warning them they were not to drive and asking if they had a ride home. All agreed, all said they had a ride back home - and outside another camera and reporter recorded the same people getting into their cars in the court parking lot. When confronted by the reporter - on camera, they pretty much ignored the reporter, got in and drove off.
It's just how it works - laws have no teeth and no real enforcement.
The kid that killed my father (fell asleep) I was there when the judge said he wasn't going to take his license as the poor kid had to have a way to get to work and back.............. good grief. (he had other records for speeding (more than 20 over), violating curfew and some other stuff.
So don't count on that drunk having any real fines or losing anything. He may also have insurance - but I've found it's not always enough.

So just an update, truck is not totaled and they are finishing up the estimate tomorrow. The only issue they see is that it may be delayed depending on parts availability. They are even going to have a shop remake the decals for me. Can't wait to have my truck back. This 2022 Nissan frontier rental isn't bad but it sure has some rock hard seats!
