Eco Diesel first oil change

So my question is when do you do your first oil change on a Eco Diesel? I'm a bit old school on my 2 previous Wranglers I did my first oil change at 700 miles. I've read that changing the oil on the Eco Diesel to soon and often can actually hurt the engine... What is the consensus on here?

I did mine at 5k miles. Per the manual it wasn’t due but I wanted to get the break in crap out of it.

There is no reason to not change your oil earlier if you want to. The factory fill is the same as what you can buy retail.
‘There is a debate among any two car (or truck) guys/gals about when to do it so you will get all sorts of opinions. For me (based on the advise of an auto fluids engineer) is to do The first oil change at or before 2000, then 5000 then what ever the manufacturer recommends. This has worked for me over the past 20 years and literally a dozen different vehicles. Keep in mind that your diesel‘s mileage and break in will take place over the first 10K miles before things come to equilibrium.

I have always done the first change early. I look for heavy flakes of metal showing abnormal wear. It is a mechanical device, things can go wrong and then there is the human input on assembly that could be off.

After the first change if everything is good, I go with manufacturers schedule.
