Larry Darnell Fitzgerald Jr. (born August 31, 1983) is an American football wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Pittsburgh, where he earned unanimous All-America honors. He was drafted by the Cardinals third overall in the 2004 NFL Draft.

Fitzgerald has been selected for the Pro Bowl eleven times.[1] He was named First-team All-Pro in 2008 and Second-team All-Pro twice in 2009 and 2011. As of September 29, 2019, he is second in NFL career receiving yards, second in career receptions, and sixth in receiving touchdowns.[2][3]

Fitzgerald has been a minority owner of the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association since 2020.[4]

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Philadelphia Inquirer’s top editor is resigning after an uproar over a headline lamenting damage to businesses amid turbulent protests denouncing police brutality against people of color, the paper announced Saturday. The newspaper said Stan Wischnowski, 58, was stepping down as senior vice president and executive editor. The Inquirer had apologized for a “horribly wrong” decision to use the headline, “Buildings Matter, Too,”

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Norfolk, Nebraska, is a quiet, conservative and predominantly white city of 24,000 people where public protests are rare, except for an annual rally against abortion. So when about 300 people gathered on a busy street corner last weekend to voice their outrage at the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, residents took notice.

In Sioux City, Iowa — population 83,000 — five officers were injured in a confrontation with protesters and several squad cars were damaged. Officers used pepper spray on the crowd after some of them pelted the officers with rocks.

A rally in Grand Island, Nebraska, drew more than 100 people to march in solidarity with activists for social justice. Officials reported that troublemakers in a passing car sprayed the protesters with a foul-smelling liquid that might have been urine. The protest in the city of 51,000 people was otherwise peaceful.

Local officials in Farmington, New Mexico, were surprised when 250 protesters showed up for a peaceful rally in front of a mall. The town of 44,000 sits on the border of the Navajo Nation, and the demonstration attracted members of the American Indian Movement and other activists

A protest organized by church leaders drew a diverse crowd of about 100 people to city hall in Rome, Georgia. The event focused on demanding justice for Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery, a 25-year-old black man who was chased down and fatally shot in Georgia while jogging.

BOSTON (AP) — Dozens of scientists doing research funded by Mark Zuckerberg say Facebook should not be letting President Donald Trump use the social media platform to “spread both misinformation and incendiary statements.” The researchers, including 60 professors at leading U.S. research institutions, wrote the Facebook CEO on Saturday

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AP) — Ethiopia’s prime minister faces an extra year or more in office after lawmakers voted Wednesday to extend their mandates and hold the national election nine to 12 months after health authorities determine it’s safe.

Some in the opposition have objected to delaying the vote for the coronavirus as no one knows when the pandemic will end or whether the government of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed will seek further postponements.


Pope sends strong message to US Catholics after Floyd death

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Pope Francis called George Floyd by name, twice, and offered support to an American bishop who knelt in prayer during a Black Lives Matter protest.

Cardinals black and white have spoken out about Floyd’s death, and the Vatican’s communications juggernaut has shifted into overdrive to draw attention to the cause he now represents.

Under normal circumstances, Floyd’s killing at the hands of a white police officer and the global protests denouncing racism and police brutality might have drawn a muted diplomatic response from the Holy See. But in a U.S. election year, the intensity and consistency of the Vatican’s reaction suggests that, from the pope on down, it is seeking to encourage anti-racism protesters while making a clear statement about where American Catholics should stand ahead of President Donald Trump’s bid for a second term in November.

White House's top lawyer at the Supreme Court to resign

(Reuters) - The U.S. government’s top advocate before the Supreme Court, Noel Francisco, who defended President Donald Trump’s policies, including the travel ban on people from mainly Muslim countries, is expected to resign, according to a person familiar with his plans.

That would mark the second departure of a senior Justice Department official in two days, following Wednesday’s news that the top prosecutor overseeing its criminal division, Brian Benczkowski, is leaving his post early next month.

The Justice Department and Attorney General William Barr have faced criticism for recent moves seen as prioritizing Trump’s close friends and allies, including its ongoing effort to drop a criminal charge against Michael Flynn a former top adviser who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI.
