Fair warning this is a rant/venting session…

Sorry to say I’m done with Jeep/Mopar/FCA…

Day one off the lot I I drove off and 20 miles into my trip back home the visor broke, from then on it’s been a love hate relationship with this truck. I love it more than any other vehicle I’ve owned and I’ve had over 20 but after this latest trip to the dealer I’m officially done.

At 500 miles on the odometer I hear a tick, not bad, take it to the dealer a bunch of times until a tick became a loud knock. FCA approved an engine replacement this took about 6 months from start to finish, truck was in the shop months not being worked on until they finally replaced the engine. All is well until it starts to leak coolant 1 week after I got it back so back to the dealer for another 2 weeks. They fixed that issue and the truck was great for a while…

Over the course of 4 years I’ve had an engine replaced, the transfer case replaced, the transmission replaced, the rear axle shaft replaced, the batteries replaced 2 times, I’ve had the alternator replaced, grounding issues, visors replaced and they took months to get, I had oil leaks multiple times. The latest issue was a torque converter replaced, after it was replaced I had to bring it back because there were some bolts that needed to be replaced…the techs were unaware that apparently the bolts were a one time use thing and the started rattle. This are just the big issues I’ve gone in for various other things over the years.

Fast forward to mid December, I get a check engine light, the red lighting bolt flash, the auto start stop lights and the TPMS as well. Dealer can’t see my truck until Jan 2…I bring it in and apparently the truck was overheating and caused the overheat tags to turn red and warp the cylinders…and now FCA, not the dealership is saying the are probably not going to cover the engine due to it overheating.

I have never taken this truck off road, it sits in my garage 90% of the time, I’ve never towed anything, it’s in perfect condition. It looks like it just came off the lot, to be honest it looks newer than a lot of the new JTs on the dealers lot. It’s never even been in the rain, it’s been babied so much. Oh and I forgot to mention I only have 29,000 miles on it!!! This engine actually only has 25,000 miles on it. It’s been a week in the shop with nothing being done to it while they wait for an approved or denial…

So after this is finally settled one way or the other I’m done.

Ill post updates as I get them…

I will only give you a 5/10 rating on the rant. Points deducted for no cuss words.

I would be pissed also given the same situation.
Haha trust me I’m holding back plus this is after the cursing and a few whiskeys last night.

Sounds like most of the problems are
dealer related.

And yes - I also would be pissed.
You should just have it hauled out to AMW.
They will fix it or build it as the case may be.

I 100% agree with you, I am done with Jeep/FCA after our Gladiator.

Went to Joshua Tree CDJR to sum it up, went in January last year for a transmission issue and they pretty much had our truck until June, briefly returning the truck in between with a dead aux battery which left us stranded in the middle of a busy intersection, after dealing with Stellantis corpo they ended up replacing the aux battery, z fuse, replacing the drag link, transfer case, drive shaft, rear end, before admitting it was a transmission issue and replacing it. We finally get the truck back.

We drove from June to December before having a no start issue, took it to Crystal Chrysler where they told me they would shuttle to enterprise then told me to walk when we got there, instantly said rodent damage before even signing paperwork, diagnosed at rodent damage and a bad aux battery again, they wouldn't provide any photos of the "HUGE NEST" they found, I approved the 1K repair since it would be covered by insurance. They return the truck with a loose exhaust hanger bracket causing a rattle then back tracked saying they didn't touch the exhaust though they charged us for 6 hours of labor saying the entire exhaust had to be removed.

I just got another call last night from the dealer saying Joshua Tree CDJR refuses to provide them the work order for the battery so they have to charge me for it, they also said they didn't touch that part of the exhaust. I told them to work with the dealership since I already provided my receipt for the warranty aux battery and I would just replace the bolts myself.

They also made it a nightmare to get a rental each time. I could go on and on but the experiences have been absolutely horrendous and I will never buy a Chrysler product again.

I’d say the salt in the wound here is how babied your truck is, and it still broke. Mines a year old and I have put 46k on it, of absolute, utter abuse. Ridden hard and put away wet. Hasn’t suffered a single failure.

Exactly what I will do if I blow my motor. Insurance money and AMW will make it better.

Lemon Law apply here?
I’m not sure anymore to be honest, they offered a buyback but I had so much into it that it didn’t make sense. So they gave me some money, a new engine and a 6 year 100k warranty from FCA. So I thought all good if anything goes wrong I’ll have the warranty and now they are saying it’s a 50/50 that it will be covered. Regret not taking the buyback now…

Yeah I figured maybe it will just be the engine and then all good but after having everything replaced and now having another engine needed I don’t trust FCA. I had two JKs before this and they were great zero issues that’s why I bought the JT assuming a new car would be even better. Just bad luck I guess.

Oh man that sucks, I’m still not being given a rental either lol. Still waiting, they won’t give me one until FCA approves the whole process.
Yeah this is the last Chrysler product for me.

Yeah I could see the attorneys sneaking some fine print into that. Still, should be covered. The only thing i could see them nailing you on is negligence. How are you suppose to know the engine was over heating the entire time without a warning?

I would also be pissed. Every brand has their issues - go on any car board and you'll see rants from Lexus to Hyundai - but it's how the dealer network responds to those issues that makes the brand succeed or fail. The CDJR dealer network is an utter disaster. And to be fair, Stellantis doesn't offer the necessary support to their network which makes it even worse.

I have great empathy for your experience with Jeep. I have written off 2 brands in the past because warranty work wasn't covered and the same issue kept repeating even after multiple replacement. What is shocking for jeep is the random results people see. I had issues with Ford but it seemed the fail rate was 90% i had issue with Hyundai and again very high fail rate. With jeep (Excluding the diesel) it really seems random trucks have near zero quality issues and others are built to 1980 Soviet bloc quality.
@JeepCares. We have a lot of people here who watch how people are treated when issues come up. I for one am a repeat buyer as many on this forum are. Failures happen. How jeep responds is going to impact whether or not you continue to keep repeat buyers.

We have 2 customers here that are not seeing the best from Jeep.
