I’m not sure anymore to be honest, they offered a buyback but I had so much into it that it didn’t make sense. So they gave me some money, a new engine and a 6 year 100k warranty from FCA. So I thought all good if anything goes wrong I’ll have the warranty and now they are saying it’s a 50/50 that it will be covered. Regret not taking the buyback now…
They offered a buyback without you requesting it or getting a lawyer involved. That is a huge red flag. You should have pulled what mods you could and taken the loss.

It was a lot of work, but I pulled everything off my first Gladiator and traded it after 4.5 years. I only left the Trailer Brake Controller and the Badge Glow Aux Board. I kept the wheels and tires I had just put on three months earlier, and put the factory wheels and worn tires back on. It's been almost a year and only about half the stuff, so far, has been put back on the new truck.

I have great empathy for your experience with Jeep. I have written off 2 brands in the past because warranty work wasn't covered and the same issue kept repeating even after multiple replacement. What is shocking for jeep is the random results people see. I had issues with Ford but it seemed the fail rate was 90% i had issue with Hyundai and again very high fail rate. With jeep (Excluding the diesel) it really seems random trucks have near zero quality issues and others are built to 1980 Soviet bloc quality.
@JeepCares. We have a lot of people here who watch how people are treated when issues come up. I for one am a repeat buyer as many on this forum are. Failures happen. How jeep responds is going to impact whether or not you continue to keep repeat buyers.

We have 2 customers here that are not seeing the best from Jeep.
I have to say JeepCare was responsive the first time around hoping they help out here.

I asked about it the buyback and they were pretty quick about offering it. I have around 25-30k in mods so it would have been a ton of work getting everything off and also finding the old stuff to put back on the truck. I was really just thinking that I had a bad engine and that it was not that big of a deal especially since It was just a few months old when it happened. I never thought that the second engine would fail especially after only 24k miles on it and definitely never imagined they would deny this kind of claim. I've touched everything on this truck execpt what I definitely didn't want them to be able to deny, the engine, the transmission and the transfer case everything else I've replaced or modified.

UPDATE...
I was just told by the dealer that FCA rejected/denied my warranty work. Dealership states they will talk to some factory area rep about it tomorrow but as of now its denied and the cost to replace is on me. I was told "the engine long block has a blown head gasket(s) at the #1 and #4 cylinder(s) resulting in the additional failures of the coolant dripping into cylinder and engine was overheated."

They refused to give me any contact info regarding someone to speak to regarding the denial and not much info on why its denied. So tomorrow ill reach out to FCA again. Unfortunately this looks like its going to turn into a legal issue. This is nuts, I put 4k miles on the truck through 2023 and another 4k through 2024 for a total of 24k on the replaced engine and 29k total miles on my truck.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Unfortunately there's no such thing as a car brand that's all good or all bad. I used to have a side business selling cars and motorcycles. I've bought and sold over 157 vehicles....and I've seen some lemons from just about every brand I've come across. In some cases I've seen dealerships step up even when the manufacturer wasn't being helpful. Quality control isn't cost effective these days, they slap em together and sell them. If enough break or cause legal issues they recall. I'm not saying you should forgive jeep, but just know the same thing can happen with GM,Ford,Subaru,Toyota,Honda etc.....if there was ONE great company they'd be the only one in business.

Fair warning this is a rant/venting session…

Sorry to say I’m done with Jeep/Mopar/FCA…

Day one off the lot I I drove off and 20 miles into my trip back home the visor broke, from then on it’s been a love hate relationship with this truck. I love it more than any other vehicle I’ve owned and I’ve had over 20 but after this latest trip to the dealer I’m officially done.

At 500 miles on the odometer I hear a tick, not bad, take it to the dealer a bunch of times until a tick became a loud knock. FCA approved an engine replacement this took about 6 months from start to finish, truck was in the shop months not being worked on until they finally replaced the engine. All is well until it starts to leak coolant 1 week after I got it back so back to the dealer for another 2 weeks. They fixed that issue and the truck was great for a while…

Over the course of 4 years I’ve had an engine replaced, the transfer case replaced, the transmission replaced, the rear axle shaft replaced, the batteries replaced 2 times, I’ve had the alternator replaced, grounding issues, visors replaced and they took months to get, I had oil leaks multiple times. The latest issue was a torque converter replaced, after it was replaced I had to bring it back because there were some bolts that needed to be replaced…the techs were unaware that apparently the bolts were a one time use thing and the started rattle. This are just the big issues I’ve gone in for various other things over the years.

Fast forward to mid December, I get a check engine light, the red lighting bolt flash, the auto start stop lights and the TPMS as well. Dealer can’t see my truck until Jan 2…I bring it in and apparently the truck was overheating and caused the overheat tags to turn red and warp the cylinders…and now FCA, not the dealership is saying the are probably not going to cover the engine due to it overheating.

I have never taken this truck off road, it sits in my garage 90% of the time, I’ve never towed anything, it’s in perfect condition. It looks like it just came off the lot, to be honest it looks newer than a lot of the new JTs on the dealers lot. It’s never even been in the rain, it’s been babied so much. Oh and I forgot to mention I only have 29,000 miles on it!!! This engine actually only has 25,000 miles on it. It’s been a week in the shop with nothing being done to it while they wait for an approved or denial…

So after this is finally settled one way or the other I’m done.

Ill post updates as I get them…

I’m more upset that you did all those mods and never took it offroad. 😢
I built up a couple of JKs in the past those were taken all over the place. I built it up for my kid, this was gonna be her first car, she’s helped me work on it the entire way.

Well if FCA gave you a 6yr/100k warranty, they need to fix it dot period......BUT I also understand that does not cover you sanity and lost time. Sometimes fire is the answer LOL

I feel the same way, I had a couple JKs that were solid they are still rolling around town to this day. If this were engine #1 being replaced I wouldn’t mind as much but 2 engines in less than 30k miles. QC is either pretty fucked or I’m just insanely unlucky. For now I plan to stay away from Mopar.

And here I am, still bitter about the dealer fucking up an axles seal (made it worse) and not able to diagnose my coolant leak. They said they pressure checked the system and saw nothing........well if you crawl under the Jeep you can see plain as day where its leaking on the radiator hose cross over.

BTW, there needs to a proportional amount of "fucks" and "cocksucker" in a legit rant LOL. Using the dirty words makes you and everyone feel better whether they admit it or not.

yeah I had to take it back a few times due to coolant issues after they installed the replacement engine.

Hahaha yeah by the time I wrote my little rant I had gotten those outta my system.

Sucks your dealing with a total shit show, especially with a vehicle you actually like and enjoy. I'm sure at this point you've thought of every course of action you can take. But have you tried another dealer?
