As you all know issues I am having with diesel gladiator but the oil temp has always run cool till today.
At 68 degrees this morning driving to my jobsite going up 4 percent hill at 65 I was watching oil temp
It was 255 when I crested hill at low rpms.
8th gear.

This engine seems to have strange gremlins

no that is standard behavior. Keeping the turbo spooled running grade and higher speed will build high oil temps.

oddly the ram eco'd doesn't seem to have the high oil temps the JT does.

the ram has a different oil cooler part number then the JT.

Some say on here at 260 it goes in limp mode.
Mine goes in limp mode with low voltage when oil is cooler.
I was not running hard, empty at 65 in 8th gear ideliing at 68 degrees outside.

mine would go into limp mode at 255, this last trip to CO i hit 260 and it didn't limp but i did back off.

i also removed all the engine insulation, the gasket at the back of the hood and opened my vents.

My belief is the large rubber blocks hold heat and trip a sensor somewhere.

I was reading about faulty oil coolers causing this.

It's strange mine just started at 68 outside empty just normal driving.
If I start towing my lawn mower I bet it will go in limp mode all the time.

They need to do better
