The dealer has the videos I sent them, and acknowledged that it sounds to them like rocker

They told me that they didn’t hear anything out of the ordinary and that this sounds normal. Does this sound normal?
IMO, no, that doesn’t sound normal. Cell phones can do strange things to sound on videos though. Still, that doesn’t sound normal to me.

When it does that loud tick it usually goes away pretty quickly.

When it’s doing the other tick/rubbing sound it does not go away. It only does it occasionally though and the dealership won’t do anything because they can’t replicate it.

If the the one on startup goes away quickly, I don’t think I’d worry too much unless it starts not going away. Dealers seem to make a large impact on people’s experiences with their jeeps

Just got a call from the dealer, they definitely can hear it now after a longer test drive. The dealer stated he is not sure if its a lifter he said it sounds like engine clatter, WTH is engine clatter. He then said they are taking the top end apart but he wouldn't be surprised if its going to get a new motor!

Something making contact somewhere that shouldn’t…best guess for dealer speak for noises that shouldn’t be there, but they can’t identify.

So I just got off the phone with the dealer, they have had the jeep over a week now and just tore into it this morning. They said defiantly a lifter issue and since this is the second time they will be doing all of them plus the cams. I guess we will see if this is the fix, I am 50/50 on keeping the JT I have been thinking of changing platforms all together.

I love my gladiator. The engine is the only thing that makes me have similar thoughts.

So two weeks to the day I picked up the JT, the drive home was quiet like really quiet. It sounds better than when I bought it, now we will see how long it will last. If it happens again a decision will have to be made.
