Just curious: did you have to finance or lease through dealer? Also what are the dealer's fees?
As of the December, it was a 499 doc fee plus TT&T. I had originally planned on financing but ended up leasing for personal reasons, but it made no difference to them. The sales price never changed. He gives a 4% discount regardless. 1% for Chrysler capital, and 1% for tread lightly. Black Friday he offered an additional 1% so maybe there’s more wiggle room or maybe a sale coming up?

Just asking because I found similar dealers, but their doc fee negated about 1 - 2% of the discount, and their finance rates were marked-up to negate another 2-3% of the below invoice discount.

Another thing I will say about Travis and Tri-City, is that he will give you an honest on the spot value of your trade in through email if you send detail pics and info. In my case and a few others, it was pretty much what KBB valued it at and there was no switching or number games playing that most dealers like to pull after the fact.

You will get exact numbers upfront and they will not change when it is time for the sit down with them to do the paperwork and get your vehicle.

I sent Travis a list of what I was looking for and he sent me a detailed email showing all the charges and sales prices. I’m out of town so I can’t look at my paperwork, but I’m rereading emails and he was super upfront about everything long before I even ordered. Once I paid my deposit, the numbers were locked in. Very transparent process overall.

I can share the bill of sale that was in my email. For what it’s worth, the MSRP was 59,550 I believe, and this did not reflect the additional Tread Lightly discount at this point.

This went along with the bill of sale. So only 4% reflected there.

That's where a lot of them get you. Must finance through one of their lenders. Had one dealer tell me I HAD to use Chrysler Finance (is it still called that?) to get an extra $2000 rebate. This was before the recent rebate even existed. Then they'll hold a point or 2 on your rate and make the money back. I made the mistake of letting the dealer find my financing after USAA came back with a higher rate than expected. Found out after the fact they held a point after I asked the finance guy point blank how much he was holding. He lied. I refinanced with Navy Fed the next day. I don't have a problem with someone making money, but don't flippin lie to me!

I concur with other comments. I just recently saved $7400 off my Gladiator, MSRP was $60,960 - I paid $59,300 out the door - tax/license included. So roughly 12% off MSRP. Although mine was picked up at Huntington Beach Jeep in CA.

*** To get this deal, the dealer told me I had to finance 100% of purchase price for a minimum of 3 months. I agreed to do so knowing I would pay the bulk of the loan on the 1st payment, then pay the small balance off after the 3 months. But in the end, they allowed me to pay by check. No financing ***

Dealers can make huge amounts on the financing side. $3-4K on one transaction is not unheard of. Most high volume dealers utilize this (financing kick backs) and other "backside" money to sell tons of cars at the lowest prices - knowing they'll make it up on the back end. I'd suggest using this to your advantage as it could help you save thousands more. Most require you keep the loan for just 3-6 months. Then you can pay it off. To reduce the interest, pay the balance down to a minimal amount on the 1st payment, leaving just enough on the loan to get you to the 3 or 6 month mark.

These are good points and a sophisticated buyer can work this out in advance and find the best deal that works for them. Sometimes the rebate is worth more than a slight increase in APR, but you have to work the numbers to figure that out. If you have your own, good financing already it is worth playing both sides. That is what I just did. I got an extra $1500 off to use the dealer’s financing, which was SunTrust, with zero strings. No early payback penalty. Well, just six days after purchase they are getting a check from USAA refinancing and saving me another $1750 in interest if I take the full term to pay the loan off. I gave SunTrust a chance to match USAA and they couldn’t/didn’t want to and now they don’t have the loan anymore.

Just trying to figure out the math - what's the tax rate; what's license; any doc fees?

2020 Jeep Gladiator North Edition - GOBI -
Just purchased my Gladiator North Edition on Sunday at Cerritos Jeep. Sticker was $57,375, I got them down to $49,890. My OTD price was $56,094 (CA Sales Tax, Yikes!). I still managed to be over 1K under sticker out the door. I initially entered the dealer on Saturday, their best OTD was $61k, I walked out and waited for a callback.

I did finance with them, which helped with the deal. I got a 3.89% rate as opposed to the 2.99 rate my Credit Union offers. Nonetheless, I intend to pay this off within the year so win win.
