Just got my winch installed, they didn’t put on a fairlead plate and it just looks kinda half assed.

I didn’t know there was a plate needed for a clean install.

Looks like 2 bolts…. But can it be done with out have to pull the bumper off? Or is there space to get behind to the bolts?

Other options to fill the holes?

Is that picture of your Jeep? Looks like the plate is there now or am I missing something?

looking at the picture the fairlead plate is not needed since its integrated into the bumper.

Yes I have the fair lead.

Not sure the right term, but there is a plate that goes behind it like below that covers all the old holes.

Here is the part number for the fairlead plate you are asking about - 82215528AB . Can not answer if you can install it after the bumper has been installed.

JT Patriot is on it, get the factory plate, or go back to who installed it and see if they have the plate. The quickest way will be to pull off the bumper, which is taking off skid plate removing eight nuts and unplugging the fog lights. OR, Take off your skid plate and see if you can get to the fairlead nuts, if so you can do it without taking bumper off. I guess you could buy the plate cut it to fit and use nutserts to bolt it on......Jack

Might be able to sneak a wrench thru the fairlead to the back of the fairlead nuts and do it that way

Yes you can.

Take your time! If you rush it may cost you not just money!

In my case, the winch line passes through the winch plate, bumper, cover plate then the fairlead. The ONLY thing you want the winch line to make contact with off the drum is the fairlead. In my case, I needed to do a little trimming with the grinder. This process may cause you to fully install and have to reinstall several times…and yes it’s a pain in the butt, because reaching the nuts inside the bumper is tight, but it has to be done. Otherwise, when pulling the line out and winching it in can cause the line to rake across the steel layers, fray the line and fail. If you’re lucky the only damage will be a broken winch line.

Pay attention to the top, bottom and sides and give it enough clearance so if the fairlead shifts you’re still safe.

Don’t worry about having to grind down the surfaces. Paint it to protect it…letting it fully dry. If you sell the vehicle and keep the winch, you’ll take out the winch plate and cover plate. The factory plastic cover plate can be placed back on the bumper and look factory good.

Fixed!

Took about 20 min, little fiddle farting with the driver side to get the nut and bolt back on.
