Hi All,
This post is more to see what others have encountered and dealt with for a leaking valve cover gasket followed by issues with O2 sensor throwing check engine light with code P0137. I am also posting to see if @JeepCares will step in and assist with anything on this matter.
What has happened is I have a 2021 jeep gladiator Mojave. The valve cover has started leaking at around 40,000 mile. There was a smell from the passenger side of burning oil/rubber. This appeared to line up with some of the online form posts about it being a issues so took it to the dealer.
Took it to the dealer and they confirmed leaking passenger side valve cover. They replaced it under the power train warranty. The smell lingered as they said they cannot clean all of it off and it would eventually burn off. 2 weeks later check engine light turns on and I scan it at home, code P0137. Took it back to the dealer as I figured it is a result of the leaking valve cover.
The dealer confirms the code along with some other ones stored in the computer. They believe that the O2 sensor below the passenger side valve cover is causing the original code as it is al covered in oil residue. They informed me though that it is not covered under warranty as the warranty does not cover consequential damages. They tell me to call Chrysler to get it sorted out for coverage as there is nothing they can do.
Well, kind of need a car to commute to work and such, so am a bit stuck with the car at the dealer for repairs. I ask the dealer to change out the O2 sensor and am hoping this is the last of known issues from the valve cover.
I am seeing if any other members had similar issues with such a thing and what has happened. Has the dealer contact the manufacture on your guys behalf? Have any repairs due to the leaking valve cover been covered by them? Again seeing if @JeepCares has any insight and resolution on this.
I will also reach out to FCA for assistance and opening a case for them to look at to see if there is anything they can do for reimbursement on this as the valve cover caused issued with O2 sensor and is just not right that the consumer is stuck for repairs to a issue from manufacture defect.
