I have a 2020 Sport S kept smelling burnt oil coming from the area of the right front wheel. checked under the vehicle and discovered a oil leak coming from the right valve cover, dripping onto the catalectic converter and the upstream O2 sensor. Took it to the dealer they advised that the valve cover was defective had to be replaced so they ordered it. Took in today 01/24/2022 at 8:30 AM , picked it up at 3:00 PM. Warranty repairs involved replacing 4893800AI right valve cover and gasket, also replaced 68224424AA Oxygen sensor. Just wondering if this defective valve cover is a common thing on the 3.6 L.

Been reported a few times in some misfire threads of the valve cover leaking and dripping on the 02 sensor causing the misfire issue.

Not one of the more common defects I have seen but no unheard of. I speculate it is more of an installation error than a design defect.

Anyone know about warranty repairs on this? I called my dealer and they wouldn't give me a straight answer other than they didn't care. Checked the jeep warranty site and it has a blurb about all seals only having a 12000 mile warranty???? How is that possible?

I had over 12,000 on mine, the whole valve cover had to be replaced they also replaced the 02 sensor! Think I would find another dealer.

Mine did it before the first oil change. Didn't smell it but took it in for the CEL and that was the cause. Oil leaked onto the O2 sensor.

22 rubicon - took mine in for the 19a recall, they called and told me my right and left gaskets are seeping. Lol, I was wondering! I thought I was smelling things. I'm thinking defect or bad install considering I'm not the only one posting about this. 20k miles in, fixed under warranty.
