Oh and found out my tool box, back at a friends house, will actually fit in the basement. So next summer I should have most my tools back. Although getting it into the basement will be fun. I'm sure the winch will come in handy 🤔
I used the winch on my Power Wagon to move a 800 lbs gun safe up the basement steps at my brother in laws house one night.

How did you get the PW in the house?

I'm afraid that is why you found the leak. I will have to hang it on the wall like many others do, right next to the TDI and crown vic covers.
Ooo gotcha. It could be. But I am SUPER picky with vehicle stuff. On par with Bill if you will. Which is why I was so darn upset over the transfer case thing. 9 times out of 10 I'm the guy finding and solving problems at work, and it flat out pisses some people off. But, I also expect 100%. Guess thats a personality flaw. So even with the cover, I probably would have seen it lol. But it is annoying not being covered up. I doubt it would ever cause any functional problem with the vehicle - maybe in 10 years.... But - when these vehicles cost 60K + I think it is well acceptable to expect high quality. A seep of this type 6 or 8 years from now wouldn't bother me too much, but at only 15K miles and not even 2 years old...yeah. That's just not right to me.

I need to do that too actually. Safe is at my dad's house, and I really need to get it out of there.

I have thought about removing my cover the last time that topic came up. I decided that the first time that I need to remove it, it will just stay off. Now, here I go, looking for leaks that I don't know I have yet.

My Duramax was the worst. Dealer said it's within limits. It still made a mess of the carport. It would stop leaking after 2 qts leaked out. I finally got around to resealing the pan. I should have fixed it years ago. Too many things going on I guess.

If you can't see it, is it really a leak?

Not a particularly hard leak to fix, ONCE the valve cover is off. The seal is installed from the inside of the valve cover, so the cover has to come off. There is a better seal available, but it is not made for the variable valve lift solenoid. It is a spark plug tube seal, and the VVL solenoid is a tight fit in it. I know this from seeing it done on a Pentastar upgrade engine that I had to replace a camshaft in. It was dry as the day it was built, and it is common for the VVL solenoid seals to keep. I know the factory didn't put the tube seal in there, so someone had been into it before. If I ever have reason to pull the valve covers on mine I will use the tube seals to prevent future leaks or seepage.

Darn - that's what I was afraid of, having to remove the cover to replace that seal. Appreciate the input. Really though? I thought I was done cursing engineers :) Well it's not a terrible leak so I'll probably wash down the engine this weekend and see how it looks after a few months. @ShadowsPapa - guess its a good thing I removed that genesis tray

I don't mind pulling the right side (passenger side) valve cover too much, I pull the TPM and battery box and then there is plenty of room to work. The left valve cover is more aggravation, I sometimes have considered hiring someone to curse for me while I pull it off.

Man, bummer.. Is it not able to come off without pulling the battery tray?
