Don't have my JT yet but my TJ's and JK did that at certain gas stations only.
All stations are not equal. If the submersible pump in the storage tank is oversized to compensate for high volume sales and or the flow rate is higher than mandated(5gpm), the shut off will not react quickly enough and those pesky air pockets in the horizontal line from the filler to the tank will burp fuel. My YJ needed a reduced flow as it came close to topping out. A defective valve in the nozzle will also cause this but rare. I spent many years repairing C-Store and station equipment and electronics. Not an issue if you pay attention.

Anyone else had this issue? When I fill up my gladiator with fuel, it gets to the end and when nozzle goes to kick out gas overflows out of filler hole, has done it multiple times at different stations around town. Wondering if anyone else had this issue may try slowing it down some closer to end to see if that fixes my issue. Not sure if anyone else has seen this, thanks
Have you tried to hold the fuel nozzle while pumping so the fuel nozzle points in a more direct way into the tank? It may be kicking back because of the way the nozzle is sitting/positioned. Just a thought.

Mine does it about 50% of the time. Depends on the pump I believe, I fill up normally at the same place and have used multiple pumps with various outcomes at each.

That sucks....That would get old real fast after a few times.
Maybe take it back to dealer? Maybe the filler neck needs replacing?

I have not experienced this. I have only filled up at Exxon and Sheetz.

I've not had it happen with my JT, but it will happen every time with my LJ so I'm use to it happening. There's a few different fixes for the TJ/LJ. But I'm tuned in to listening for when to stop pump then to restart at slow speed. Maybe a stuck vent valve in fill neck hose.

Have never had it happen when the nozzle shuts off. The ONLY time it happens with me is when I try to actually fill the tank.
The nozzle, and this is any station, shuts off at about 18.5 gallons.
I tweak the nozzle and I can get 19 in there no problem and if I spend another 2 or 3 minutes, I can get 20 in it.
The nozzles always shut off at about 18.5 no matter the station, no matter which way I am facing.
And I can almost always get more in - one time I kept going and got 20.5 in it after it had stopped at 18.5
IF I let it stop/shut off and don't put more in, never had any gas kick back out, it's only when I keep trying and even then it rarely gets to the point of getting to the paint. Only on the part behind the fuel door.
My beef is that it says it's empty and there's 20 miles left and always every time kicks off at 18.5 gallons. Isn't this supposed to be a bigger tank than 20 gallons??

Only once on my JT since I have had it but it used to do that to me all the time on the Ram 1500. I do not try to put more gas in once the lock pops.

On my LJ it would do it all the time. The fix for the LJ was to install a "burp valve" or whatever you call it from a particular Chevy. One can search Wrangler forums for that fix. It has been flawless ever since I replaced it (a decade now). On my Suburban, the little trap door at the top filler fell down into the fuel filler hose and got caught up in the "burp valve". So, consider something may have jammed it open. I agree with an early poster, replace the thing for $20.

Hi Jordan,
We're sorry to hear about this. Are you considering having your dealer take a look? If so, please send our team a private message, we would be happy to provide additional support.

Makes me wonder if we might see a TSB at some point?
Question for the tribe-

Are those seeing the splash-back using nozzles that have the sheild on them - that big rubber unbrella that barely fits into the area behind the fuel door on most vehicles?
Are you in California? - If yes, ouch - I wonder why CA hasn't asked what's up with this?
You know - the folks who call hazmat if they see a fume escape? OK, just sort of joking and messing around, but really, CA has strict things to deal with drops, fumes and so on - so could this be an issue in that state?

Just sort of wondering out loud, wondering if there's any patterns, etc. as I've not seen a real problem, but not suggesting my truck is perfectly immune to such things, it's sort of on the edge, I've just not had it happen.

I've had two JKs and the JT, none have every done anything like this. I use the auto fill on manual, never an issue.
