It’s been about 5 months now. Figured I’d check in. The new clutch is still working great. Has a very consistent engagement. All I could have asked for.
Wish I could say the same. I am truly happy yours is working out for you.

My dealer wants my gladiator for 3 days to do the work. Is this reasonable?? I’m thinking they have a lot of inexperienced techs there….

They had mine for 2 weeks, they got started and found they had the wrong part. Not a big deal, let them do their job.

Doesn't mean a thing - they are hedging their bets, and allowing for "what-ifs".

Could also mean they are very busy and working it in as they can.

Doesn't mean they don't know what they are doing.
What if they said "pick it up at 5 tonight" and it wasn't ready? Then you'd be PISSED.

Haha very true. That’s a great way of looking at it. Thanks 😊

Not sure if anyone is monitoring this thread but my experience with these "fixes" seems to only make matters worse.
The first software flash only reduced the torque and reduced acceleration. It also changed the language from English to another language that could not be changed. So another software flash had to fix the language issue.
The recall itself is another disaster. They replace the clutch with the exact same clutch and the software flash gives "service transmission" messages for which there is no code. And now the truck loses all electrical power for no apparent reason. I can only deduce that whatever they did to the software now creates an incompatibility issue of some kind.
I'm currently waiting for the tow truck to take this piece of shit to the the dealership.
Anyone having similar issues after the recall?

That sounds like something else entirely.
Like - someone messed up - or there's a battery issue that's causing it to go into self-preservation mode and shutting down.

Yes. I refuse to get the recall done for these reasons. Starting last month, the dealership started spamming me with robocalls to have this work done, which I've since blocked.

FCA is required by law to do monthly reports to NHTSA of any outstanding unrepaired vehicles.
So, they will keep trying and trying because they HAVE to.

And if anything happens (damage, fire, whatever), since they've been trying, it will be on you.

There's been a whole lot more successes with the recalls than failures, so going by a couple of complaints isn't reflecting those who have had it done, and fix it or not, haven't had issues since the recall was done.

I understand their legal obligation to inform me. They've done that already, many times. I also know Jeep dealerships are desperate for sales and getting me to step through the door is a win. Robocalling is a thinly-veiled way to get business, justified by a recall that effected less than .001% of vehicles.

Additionally, this work would cost me money. Back when this recall was first announced, I contacted the dealership who were too busy to give me the time of day. However, they did have enough time to tell me that any aftermarket parts I had that interfered with the recall (such as my full belly skid) would be done at my expense.

I also don't want to dick with removing my taser and resetting everything when they flash my software with the other recall my Jeep apparently needs.

My Jeep is fine right now, and I put very low miles on it. No recall will be done until I'm ready to trade it in for something else.

Both batteries are new as of this Spring. Alternator is good. Power failure seems to be from the TIPM as the only codes that are thrown are "comms loss with radio". That could either mean a BO TIPM or the recall software flash is incompatible with the TIPM for a 2020.
Otherwise it would have to be BO PCM and/or ECM?

I just dropped it off at the dealership and instructed them to replace the TIPM as a start solution. They cannot unflash the software which would be the easiest solution if you ask me.

Failing to do the recalls may void any warranty work you may require.

Sorry....I'm gonna call BS on that unless you have actual data to share.
The initial issue was software related. They tried to fix that and only created more problems beyond the original friction issue leading to damaged clutches. So their recall replaced the clutches with the same clutch and another software fix which has only made the situation worse. It hasn't solved the original issue. It has robbed transmissions of torque and now pooched the electrical system.

There is a reason why manual transmissions are no longer an option on Gladiators.

Look around, read these forums - there's a lot of people here and in the Wrangler forums who have had it done.
I've read a lot of posts from people here who have had it done - and didn't have MORE problems.
Be observant.

Manuals have gone away for multiple reasons - LACK OF DEMAND plus the fact they drag down the CAFE numbers. The automatics of this era simply do better with mpg and emissions. More gears to choose from to keep that engine in the sweet spot - no driver is as smart as that TCM working with the PCM.

Last month I received the fix for my gladiator clutch. After 26,000 miles and avoiding having my grandkids ride in the jeep it’s fixed. Actually it drives better than I first bought the jeep. No more difficult starting out in first, no more slipping in 3rd and 4th accelerating on freeway ramps, no more popping out of cruise control, no more losing screen displays…. But most importantly feeling safe to put grandkids in car seats in the back seat.

Now…. What about this battery failure? I’m starting to get vibration in the steering at highway speeds?
