When I was a kid my buddy and I did that with a Honda 50 engine we salvaged from the dump. Everyone else was using the old Briggs and Scrap Iron engines, and we had that.

Fun as hell, but boy did we have some close shaves!

Good to know, (not the shooting your engine part) but I am about the bite the bullet 😉 and do a service on the old gal. spark plugs, coils, oil cooler swap, metal lower intake swap, I'll probably do a new valve cover gasket while I'm in the neighborhood. Afterall l'ts going on 119k miles and I know for a fact these are still the factory spark plugs in it.
Your good unless one quits working . Maintenance schedule on those plugs is 160,000 miles.

FWIW, because i found oil in one of the spark plug tubes, i pulled the valve cover to replace tube gaskets and valve cover gasket. I just ended up buying a new valve cover (which had all the gaskets installed) for about $100 more. While i was in there, i replaced the three coil packs, as i was not interested in pulling it all apart again. Also put on a new EGR valve.

I can always tell if a person is handy by looking at what they save, the more obscure the article, the more mechanically handy they seem to be!
I keep scraps of wood, as well. I built a set of stairs to my garage loft (since replaced with far better stairs) using salvaged deck lumber and so on.
I built my engine hoist, engine stand, table with all of my plating equipment..........
I had my Case tractor injectors turned up and the engine "tuned" a bit for more HP/torque and had problems keeping the front on the ground under load of my chisel plow, so lengthened the frame on the tractor and moved the front axle forward.
My wife's quilting machine wheels cut into the aluminum carrier that runs on the long table for some reason - replaced the carriage but kept the old one - that's a really nice big piece of aluminum - might use it some day.
When I had the fuel pressure regulator on my Javelin, I used a piece I took off her quilting machine when it was upgraded to hold the regulator and gauge to the front of the right head. That DID come in handy!
A guy was wanting to actually properly restore his 70 Javelin - including proper radio and factory type wiring in the dash. I had pieces salvaged from AMCs of that era and made him a proper wiring harness that looks factory (even though totally hidden inside the dash.
Those bits of wire and connectors came in handy.

But I think my "stuff on hand" is starting to outpace those "some days" HA.

I learned to not throw away the OE stuff if I can help it. Usually it never goes back on, but it's nice to have spares for others if needed in a pinch. I junked my OE springs and control arms, but kept the front drive shaft just in case. It can sit in the shed out of the way taking up basically no space and be a Future Sweetums problem
So far, I pretty much have enough space.
I also had a situation where I was putting my 2020 back to stock for trade. I put the front receiver on before I got the steel bumper and skid plate. I had cut the "plastic" air dam to fit around the receiver, then later did the same to the steel skid plate.
So there I was - I had cut the air dam, and was going to have to buy one to put on the truck.
Jerry, forum member who helped me swap out parts and such - had an undamaged one he gave me.
Small parts I have forwarded on to members.

You looked at the table incorrectly. 160,000 is for Kilometers. It is 100,000 for miles.
