I did not replace my rear shocks due to noise, but due to the load I carry and how it handled, I needed adjustables. But even if it was for noise, i have a 3” lift which means shock extenders if you use the factory shocks. I do not care how much extra we paid for the Mojave shocks, I want it to be right for what I do with it. I have extenders on the front now and do not like them, so they will gone soon.

And dealers in my area will not provide much help after the warranty expires and you have modded your jeep as much as many of us have. Maybe I need to journey to WI the next time I need something fixed outside of the warranty.

Check the bushings on your shocks. I had a rear 'squeaky shock' that ended up being the upper shock bushing rubbing on the frame mount. I realigned the bushing and no more squeak.

I also had some slight noise that was fixed by applying silicone grease to the shock shafts. I did that about a year ago and they are still silent.
This is the answer. I have the cold weather noisy shocks on my Mojave, but warmth and time, and lubrication (TWSS) is the fix. I don’t think I’m pulling mine off or going to the dealer for the issue.

Hey, not exactly direct comparison to your question, but I'm running takeoff Mohave springs on my Willys (I liked the silver color springs) with the stock Willys shocks (JL red Rubicon shocks), so the Fox 2.0's would only be an improvement on mine I'm sure. Heck, I'd love to upgrade to that or the 2.0 Falcon's ha, it's all relative! Ride has been fine though, length shouldn't be an issue at all, particularly for the time period you are talking about while yours are rebuilt.

Good luck!

I've read the whole thread, I can only guess it was your title haha that set some off or otherwise....

Rubicon takeoff shocks will work just fine, will just need small bushings and then the regular (non mojave) bolt in the bottom shock mount holes to be right. You just need to bring the shock mount hole down to the size of the normal shock bolt. That's your only hurdle. Your shop should be able to do that no problem. Others have upgraded to Mojave shocks do the same in reverse, they put a sleeve in the shock bottom hole itself.

This was exactly my thinking.

And people’s reading comprehension needs to improve. To PERMANENTLY downgrade shocks is dumb. For the week that the shocks are being rebuilt, I didn’t think it’d throw the Earth of its axis! ?

I appreciate your input!!

Yeah, the earth won't care, and you'll be fine for that week ha! Shocks aren't your concern, it's just the front shock mount hole, which is easy to fill with bushings.

My bigger question is once you do this, how does it actually ride compared to stock mojove shocks? I'm trying to figure out what the best aftermarket option is for my final shock decision.

Keep us posted!!

I’m prob just gonna find a shop to rebuild my current shocks. No way in hell am I waiting 2 months for Fox.

And at some point in the very near future, I’ll get some Mojave take-offs. As much as I’d like a similar set-up to @Mtpisgah, my wife and I may go down the teardrop route so I may not need anything more robust...for now ?.
