I've gone deep down the rabbit hole and I've read so much I can't seem to keep everything straight. I just ordered a Fox 2.0 ATS steering stabilizer. I'd like to protect it a bit by lifting it up out of harms way, so I also ordered the Synergy track bar stabilizer mount stud. Do I need anything else or will these two pair together nicely?

Thanks.

Great timing on the question as I literally did this yesterday :)

Here's the Synergy parts you'll need for Fox ATS #983-02-148

1) Synergy Steering Stabilizer Relocation kit (get the correct clamp for your tie rod)

2) Synergy Steering Stabilizer Clamp Adaptor for Fox ATS

Otherwise if you ordered Fox ATS #983-02-142 (for 1.5" non-OEM tie rod bar) you just need to order the Synergy Mount Stud... again, this part number assumes you already have an aftermarket tie rod bar.

Here's a handy chart on Synergy's website that explains OEM position vs "flipped" position

I’m assuming you got the kit and not just the stud. Otherwise you need a clamp to mount the other end of the ATS to your tie rod.

That's where my confusion stems from! When reading the description of the stud itself, it makes it seem like you don't need anything else. If I only used the stud and not a clamp, the stabilizer wouldn't function correctly, right?

Your stabilizer would only be mounted to the axle on both ends so it wouldn't do anything

Thanks for all the detail. What I ordered shows 983-02-148. I'll wait to show up before ordering anything else, it seems like this is all I need.

Fox ATS 983-02-148 will require additional Synergy parts to run it in the "flipped" or "high clearance" position. You will not use the bracket Fox provided with the stabilizer

As noted, you’ll need a clamp that is both compatible with the ATS (they use special button-head or otherwise flush mount bolts) and is the correct size for your tie rod (presumably stock, which I believe is 1 5/8ā€ OD). When you use this stud, you’re ā€œflippingā€ the stabilizer such that it mounts to the frame on passenger side and tie rod toward center, as opposed to tie rod on passenger side and axle near the center.

I received a response from Synergy:

"You will need to run an ATS in the factory location on a stock tie rod. There isn't enough room to run it in a high mount setup with a factory tie rod."
"The tie rod sits too close to the track bar mount and will not allow everything to bolt up. You will either need to get an ATS that bolts into place (factory position) or get a Synergy tie rod to run the high mount."

So it appears that I'm going deeper down the rabbit hole. I've changed my order from the 1 5/8 Synergy tie rod clamp to the 1 1/2, and it looks like a new tie rod is in my future. I damaged my stock stabilizer on a trail, so I really don't want to mount a $450 stabilizer in the same spot that damaged my stock one.

if you got the JL SS, then it comes with a bracket and If you got the JK SS, then it comes with the clamp.
And if you have to remove the bracket to swap on the clamp, you might have to use some heat to get that bolt out.

rabbit hole indeed. haha.. good luck.

Even though you're spending another $450 on a new tie rod it's well worth it! It's so much more solid than the OEM and you're just future proofing your Jeep and making it safer. Sounds like all you need now is the Synergy Drag Link to round out the package :) I mean the wallet is open might as well!

Reviving this one. This isn’t true is it?

I have the stock tie rod but Steer Smarts everything else and now trying to stuff my Fox ATS under there. Going to order the Synergy stud and use the steer smarts tie rod clamp. Visually looks like it should work.

I'm using the stock track bar for now with my low miles. I looked at this vs and Terra Flex 2.2 Nexus. The Nexus is also 6061 body and ends and has a model with the tie rod clamp built in. It is 3 way fast adjustable easy turn knob vs fox 22 adjustments with a screw driver so not fun to mess with a lot. The Terra flex uses Redline Suspension Oil which is a Group 4/5 Oil that is ester base and Fox 4wt oil is not. Fox and the little piggy back but you need to make sure it has clearance. I did see a Fox 2.0 TS vid switch over to the Terra Flex Nexus and the driver had a better feel. The Fox could have warn but it was only 2 years. Decisions decisions.

BTW fox list this 1 5/8" version for JK but it looks like it would also work for JT?? https://ridefox.com/products/factory-race-series-2-0-ats-stabilizer-4

Edit:

Wow they makes them in USA and to a very high standard.

The Fox looks like they a are more cheaply made. After looking and owners of the Fox 2.0 and not lasting's it made me reconsider buying one.

I decided to get the Falcon Nexus. Using one of the best oils from Redline and ready to bolt on tie bar mount. Easy of instant adjustment on and off trail. The higher quality internals over Fox. Northrige4x4 had a Terrflex sale plus points! We did it Joe!
