Fox Internal Bypass Shock

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but this is the first set of internal bypass shocks that I have owned.
Normally when I remove one of the bolts on a shock, it usually starts to extend until it has maxed out. I just remove the lower bolt on my fox IB shock and it didn’t move (didn’t extend at all). Is this normal for this type of shock?

Nope, it probably lost nitrogen. It needs to be rebuilt...

Just did it with mine. Brand new shocks (fox), when I put on Clayton 3.5 lift. I kept getting a “clunk”, and retorqued everything on suspension twice…same result. I ended up pulling the front shocks and the driverside did not extend. Sent to Fox for warranty and they returned it within the week. No explanation of what was wrong BUT problem solved. Dont let it go….get it fixed.

They should be under Jeep warranty, but I have no hope that any local dealer will work with me in any reasonable amount of time.
I’m going to try contacting Fox directly and see if that might be a quicker path.

It went from bad to can’t get much worse!
All 4 shocks are dead. I removed all of them, emailed the Fox service for my RA # and got them packed up for rebuild.
I can push on them and they compress in one inch stages. It compresses for about one inch, stops, then compresses a little more, stop, etc..but never fully compresses
When I stop pushing down it takes about 5-15 seconds before it starts expanding in the same steps but never fully extends.
The funny thing is I traded a 2020 max tow with a 2” mopar lift for it and always thought how much better the ride was with this used 21 Mojave over the Max tow. It will be interesting to see how much more the ride improves when I get them back.
