Hi everyone,

New to the forum and new to owning a Jeep so please be gentle.

I recently picked up a new 2023 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon (based in Australia) and decided to grab a Foxwell NT809 scanner to keep an eye on things. I only say "New" as in Australia at the time of posting the 2023 model is the latest model available (sad, I know).

The car has only 4,000 km on it, and everything seems to be running fine, no check engine light or any obvious issues. That said, I thought it wouldn’t hurt to run a scan just out of curiosity.

Surprisingly, I picked up quite a few codes across multiple modules. Here's what came up:

TCM – Transmission Control Module
P0028 Stored – Please refer to vehicle service manual

ABS – Anti-lock Brakes
P001E Stored – Please refer to vehicle service manual

ORC – Airbag/Occupant Restraint
P0028 Stored – Please refer to vehicle service manual

IPC – Instrument Panel Cluster
P0028 Stored – Please refer to vehicle service manual

RADIO – Radio
P0032 Stored – Please refer to vehicle service manual

HVAC – Heat, Ventilation and A/C
P0028 Stored – Please refer to vehicle service manual

SCCM – Steering Column Control Module
P0028 Stored – Please refer to vehicle service manual

AMP – Amplifier
P0028 Stored – Please refer to vehicle service manual

ICS – Integrated Center Stack
P0028 Stored – Please refer to vehicle service manual

RFH – Radio Frequency Hub
P0014 Stored – Please refer to vehicle service manual

ASBS – Automatic Sway Bar System
P0014 Stored – Please refer to vehicle service manual

RBSS – Right Blind Spot Sensor
P0028 Stored – Please refer to vehicle service manual

DASM – Driver Assistance System Module
P0028 Stored – Please refer to vehicle service manual

It seems odd to me that the same codes (P0028 and P0014) are popping up across completely unrelated systems.

Has anyone seen anything similar with either the NT809 scanner or with the Gladiator in general? Should I be concerned?

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

I'm thinking there's a software error or similar issue with the scanner you have. Most of the codes you're getting are not valid for a '23 JT; the only one that does show up in the DTC list is P0032 which is for a O2 1/1 heater circuit high... definitely not something that one would expect to fall under a Radio system.

I wouldn't be concerned about the vehicle, but I'd seriously doubt the scanner.

Look like all stored history codes. Unless you have an active MIL on, I would just do a all systems code erase and move on. Could have been from a power loss event like a battery disconnected, main harness disconnected or something similar.

That makes sense as these cars have been sitting in a dealer lot for up to two years, so there is a good chance that the battery went completely flat at some point.

I will try to clear the codes and give it another go.

Looks like it could be a scanner issue, even after clearing all the codes the quick scan function continues to find DTCs but when I drilldown into the specific control module and try to display the code, it states no code found!

I'll try to get hold of another scanner to compare the results.

Those two codes are specific to intake and exhaust and have nothing to do with listed systems.

So, faulty scanner or stored codes from an early episode.

Another thing I thought of also is if your tool is getting past the security gateway module which usually needs to utilize a subscription like "Auto Authentication Authority" to gain full access to each module? If not, it may be picking up a lot of garbage and is why you cannot clear these codes.

I use a LAUNCH X431 CRP919E and need to use that service for full module and bi-directional control.

So I contacted Foxwell, explained the issue and provided all the requested info. They created a bug fix for the scanner and applied the fix remotely this morning. All is working correctly now.

@Hootbro I am bypassing the SGW module by using the 12+8 pin adaptor and the NT809 also has bi-directional control.

Thanks everyone for pointing me in the right direction.

Glade to see you got the scanner to work. I purchased the Foxwell NT809BT scanner but it requires the 12+8 adapter to get around the SGW module. First, I don’t know where to get the adapter and second I don’t see a place to plug the adapter in on Bluetooth model I have. Got any info on this?

I just picked up an adaptor from Amazon for around $10. The adaptor includes an OBD2 port which is what you will plug your Bluetooth module into. The other two connectors plug in behind the existing OBD2 port in the footwell (just follow the cables behind)
