Front Brake Issues

Evening. I have had, in the last 2 months, to replace my front brakes. I have owned it since it first came to market in 2020.

Today it went for an oil change and they are again totally gone. I felt an issue but assumed it couldn’t be the pads. My mechanic said the brake lines were pinched causing the pads to rub the rotors. It goes to Jeep on Friday for a warranty look.

I should note that I also flat tow behind my diesel and wonder if that’s the issue or if this a reoccurring issue with the gladiator itself?

I'm still waiting for my Gladiator to arrive. But I've been lurking on this site for about 6 months and this is the first I've heard of something like this.

It seems strange that the lines would pinch. Manufacturers spend huge amounts of time doing interference testing to avoid something like that.

When you say "they are totally gone", is it both left and right? or just one side?

Did you look at the pads that came out?

I suspect that there is a caliper problem. Either the piston is seized or the caliper isn't sliding in its mount to equalize pressure between the piston side and the dead side.

I’m not sure. Hope Jeep can figure before I go on the road again. My mechanic said metal on metal on the right and almost gone on the left. They were brand new 2 months ago. He said the line was pinched causing it to be closed and I immediately thought you installed them poorly, but the others were less than a year old before being replaced themselves. Something may out of whack. I just don’t have the technical know how, but want to understand before I go to the dealership and they try to tell me it’s something not under warranty. It’s pretty bizarre and it never happened with my wrangler.

Something sounds screwed up. This isn’t an issue I’ve heard of before with the JT or JL. Is your suspension stock? Do you have any pictures of the brake lines? The brake lines are routed nicely from the factory.

Yea it’s stock. I flat tow it, so haven’t made any changes there. I pick it up tomorrow from my mechanic. I’m wondering if the flat tow is doing it or they screwed up when the new brakes were put on 2 months ago. Maybe Jeep can tell..

Someone may have put the caliper back on with the line twisted. There are several brackets that keep the lines out of the way from things. I don’t see hot a line could get pinched unless someone screwed something up.

I don’t know anything about flat towing but would wonder if there is some system that actuates the JT brakes that might be set so it is constantly dragging? How else could you go through brakes that fast...

That was my immediate thought. Jeep should be able to recognize that and then I’ll have a chat with the shop that did it.

There is a robot brake that is back that senses loss of momentum and brakes in line with the rv. I thought the brake was applying light pressure while I was driving. We will see.
