Bought my new 2022 in 2022. Last year, I noticed that after a rain, the carpet would be wet under the dry floor mat on the driver’s side. Putting in a new door seal stopped the water. Last year, my passenger side started to do the same thing. Well, I thought, I’ll just get a new seal and that will fix the notorious Jeep A pillar leak. It did not. So, I removed the carpet and plastic trim pieces to investigate. I found that somehow the water leaks at the A pillar and follows the door seal then follows to the body door frame and eventually the water flows under the mat to the carpet.
My solution, drill a 1/2” hole in the frame and let the water escape through the body’s weeping holes. This is where the water escapes from the cowling too. I had to remove the wiring harness to get to location of drilling. After drilling, I smoothed the edges and hit the bare metal with a little primer via hobby brush. Made sure no flashing or ridges around hole too. This worked! For extra insurance I added a bead of body sealer to direct water, I consider this optional. Jeep for some reason gives this area a shot of foam, but water will still find its way out via the weeping holes.
But wait there’s more. Via Amazon, I got this highly recommended German seal conditioner and treated my door seals a few days ago. We have had monumental rains for the last 2 days and I left the Jeep outside. I went this am to check, and zero water has entered! So my solution, is that the seal conditioner provides a great seal and that the door frame holes provided backup if the water makes it past the seals.
