Ball Joints re-torqued? Some had loose ball joints from the factory. There's a thread around here somewhere.

Don't mean to hijack here, but I have a similar issue and have narrowed it down to the tie rod ends. I understand that the tie rod should have rotational movement, but the ball joint on the ends shouldn't move up and down, correct? It's torqued correctly, but I can see some movement when applying upward pressure.

Just following up to see if you found the fix. I know guys sometimes forget to come back and let everyone know that they found what the issue was. I am guilty of exactly that.

I creep this forum and don't do much interacting. The search function and tenacity generally helps me find what I need. I suffer from the same issue and was a bit hesitant to post about it because I wasn't exactly sure how to describe it. Mine definitely sounds like the shocks have reached maximum extension when going over a bump, even I know from a technical stand point that it cant be true. I began to think I maybe needed adjustable shocks to slow down the rebound speed. I had a Clayton 2.5 plus installed with Fox 2.0 shocks for 2"-4" lifts. No way should the shocks be maxing out. I have been struggling to find something "loose" but also I haven't gone through and re-torqued yet. Installed in beginning of November.

Its finally warm enough that the ice on the driveway is melted so that I wont have to lay in a puddle to check everything.

Kind Regards

Unfortunately, I have not been able to get around to checking, as I have been admitted to the hospital. Hopefully will be out soon.

Well, I hope all goes well. Hospital visits always suck.

Mostly for the selfish reason of finding out if the problem is solved.

Also because hospital bills can affect how much you can spend on the jeep.

Get well soon and best wishes.

You should not have any up & down movement in a tie rod end. Get rid of em.

Yea I noticed both the tie rod and the drag link were both moving excessively but the tie rod was worse, so I replaced it first. The clunk is still there but definitely not as often so I suspect they were tag teaming this one. My new drag link is here so once I throw it on, I think it will solve the problem. I'll report back.

It's been a while since I had time to fiddle with things on the truck. I posted a video below of what I think the problem is. I unbolted one side of the front sway bar and found more slop in the auto-disconnect than I think is normal. Let me know your thoughts. Also, I'm guessing this wouldn't be covered in the drivetrain warranty but I'm not sure. Trying to figure the best way forward from here. But relieved that I finally found the issue....... I hope.
