Anyone using one of these with a soft-top? I've seen several posts about the rear molle panels, but only a few mentions of the front one that amount to "i got one". Most I've seen say "not for use with soft top", but for the life of me I can't figure out why. I've heard they can be a pain to install, but nothing about why they only work with hard tops. Ideas or experiences on why?

I've got the Epic Adventure Outfitters Crow panel it would probably work fine with a soft-top tho I only have a hard top.

The way it's installed you have to pop out the rear sound bar and attach it to the frame bolts on the rear. The front has to be drilled and screwed into the cab frame.

All of the Amazon panels I've seen isn't half as sturdy as the Crow and you just 3M tape them on so yea you couldn't do that with a soft-top. It comes down to how you install the front two screws.

I run one with a soft top no issues. I am using 3m because I didn't want to drill holes in my windshield header. I have had no issues. It just sits in the front and bolts in the rear, the worst it can do is rattle if the tape comes loose.

That double sided 3M is pretty good stuff. I use it for a lot of things. Currently have it holding down 2 300aH batteries in a rolling cart, a 3000w inverter on top of the cart, a couple power strips in different parts of the house where I didn’t want to drill holes in the wall. It holds and it doesn’t let go. Will it work on a trail? Has so far on my cameras that are outside of the Jeep. Don’t see why it wouldn’t hold up inside the Jeep unless heat got to be an issue with it.

From what I've read online the 3M tape tends to rattle like mad once the tape hits a hot/cold cycle which would annoy the living heck out of me.

That's the main issue with 3M tape after a hot/cold cycle the front will rattle like mad. It can't fall because it's bolted in the rear but a low quality Chinesium might bend. My OCD wouldn't allow for that much noise so drilling is the only way.

i know it holds stuff down with no issue. my concern is holding horizontally with added weight, heat, and jostling. may never have issues with it, but if the option is tape or bolt i'm gonna bolt every time

fabulous. thanks! i've got both tops, so from what i can tell the clips for the freedom latches are the front bolt point. my key question was any issues with a soft top. problem solved!
