I'm pleased with my Gladiator's MPG. Today I traveled from Streetsboro Ohio to Western PA (Pittsburgh area) via the Ohio and PA Turnpike with cruise control on 65 mph. I averaged 24.9 MPG. My Jeep is a bone stock Sport S manual carrying two people with a full tank of gas and hardtop panels in. Tires were reading 42 to 43 psi in the 80 degree sun. I reset the MPG counter upon entering the Ohio pike and noted the MPG reading at the PA pike's exit. As far as local driving around hilly Western PA I'm seeing around 18-19 mpg with a light foot and start/stop technology enabled. I'm sure my mileage will go down when I get tired of trying to impress myself with this truck's economy and begin to put my foot into it. This is one of the few vehicles I have owned that exceeded the EPA ratings. Overall a nice highway cruiser with only a couple of times needing to downshift out of cruise control to 5th gear on long upgrades. No real hills on these sections of turnpike. My Chevy Avalanche never got better than 19 mpg (usually 17 -18) and that was in flat highway in North Carolina. I know it's apples to oranges but I'm satisfied because all of my other trucks and SUVs (automatic and V8s) sucked down the gas.

I found if your truck is equipped with a wife, it gets even better mpg... LOL
But seriously, that echoes my experience. My F250 4x4 never got more than about 12 - head-wind, tail-wind, loaded to the max, empty, hills, flat river bottom areas, didn't matter. I could be pulling a house off its foundation - 12 mpg. I could be running down hill with a tail-wind and the truck totally empty - 12 mpg. The BEST my Silverado got was 21 when I was on flat highway running at 55, otherwise it was mid-teens.
This is exceeding my wildest expectations. I've watched this thing average mid-20s when the highway was totally level for a few miles and I was running about 60. I showed my wife the other evening - look, this thing says I'm doing about 26 and we're going up a mild incline at 65!
Of course at that point she reminded me her Jeep (Grand Cherokee with the 3.6) was doing 26-27. Oh, well.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it yet. At only 740 miles, the computer is still learning how you drive. You need to give it some more time. Or drive the truck more. Also, if needed have someone or the dealer check to make sure the computer is set correctly for the gearing and proper tire size. This can also make a difference.

I hope the computer has a sensor in the right front seat - as I drive a bit differently when there's a certain female person sitting there.......

So I had my JTR for a few months now but have not pur too many miles on it. One thing I notice is I cant get more than 13 miles a galon, is this normal?
This was on a trip of about 30 miles 15 city no trafic just lights, and 15 highway.

It should get better as you drive it more. I get the best mileage on long trips. I run the tires at 40psi, which helps some. Most of my driving is around town, and I always remote start to cool down the cabin. That gives me around 15.5 mpg, calculated by the computer.

I am running average of 18-19 mix of city/highway, and that includes sitting still running AC during lunch break.

MT, driving with light foot. Stock Overland (3.73).

Can't wait to see what I get in pure highway driving. Bet it beats 23.

I just drove from Houston to Lubbock. My mileage dropped from 16 in Houston to 14 in Lubbock. Temperature seems to be part of the difference as the temp rose from 77 at the start to 99 in Lubbock. Also, gasoline octane dropped as well. Mileage started getting better as I got back to Houston this AM. I am on 37's with stock gearing. This was an 1100 mile road trip over 18 hrs.

It may well do just that.

For onlookers - I found my MPG jumped up at least 2 or 3 after I hit 7,000 miles. Now sitting at 8,000 miles it's a lot better than it was. I was happy with the 19-20, at times 21 I got. Now it's easy to get over 20 - 22-23 and with no in-town stop and go stuff even better.
There are reasons it gets better - things wear in and loosen up, and, the computer "learns".

I know this is the age of advanced technology (which our grandkids will eventually claim is cave man junk, what were we thinking) but there are still tolerances involved. Joe may get an engine at bit looser because his mains are at the large side of spec and the crankshaft the small side of spec, more clearance out the door while Sam has a really tight engine with mains on the small or tight side of spec and the crank on the top side of the range. It's called a stack-up of tolerances.
There will be variations, although these days the variations are a fraction of what they were. CNC machining can nail these down to perfection that wasn't humanly possible in past decades.

I have a Rubicon on a lift kit with 37” tires. I’ll get about 19 hwy driving 60-65. In town I shoot for 15. I’m easy on the peddle.

at over 8k miles on my jtr, mileage has consistently been at 16-17mpg. was around 17-18mpg when i first got it. for me, more miles didn't mean better mileage.

my screen is set to mileage and has been that way since. i try to be easy on the gas. stock except i put a front bumper with winch. afraid to do much more with it. i knew it wouldn't get the best mileage, but this is below advertised/expected. the crazy thing is the range of mileage we get, though the mods/builds vary as well.

yeah the biggest thing I noticed from the start when I picked up stingray was that is was way low on mileage....that was until I put about 3-4k km on it and then it started to even out to what I would expect....you have to expect that the truck off the lot has only been driven a small amount of time, and has had some longer idling, so you should start to see better mileage the more you drive (like some have stated), unless it is stop and go rush hour traffic
