EDIT: I did note some discoloring on the tire after a 5300 miles trip with lots of hard towing through the Rockies. Going to wrap the pipe in that area and deflate for more clearance!!

For those who has said it couldn't be done, I present to you a 38x12.50 Ridge Grappy on a Method 313 under the truck.

I do have the Clayton bent track bar and had to remove the heat shield, but it does fit! Tire has 5k miles on it, so it's slightly worn.

This will bring comfort in knowing I have a full sized matching spare in my odd size when traveling 2-3k miles from home?

Hmm mine hits my trailer hitch. Do those tires measure 38 or 37?

That’s mighty close to the exhaust ? good to know it can fit though!
This is a diesel so the exhaust gas temps should be a little cooler than a gas engine. The thought crossed my mind to wrap the pipe as well...hmmm. I have seen closer eshaust locations work fine on say a superduty, but I've also seen tires blown out from actual contact.

Congrats ! That is great news! Your tire has miles on it, and it is more of an All-Terrain, so, that probably helps. Is your method rim - 17x8.5 or 17x9 ? I can see how a wider rim will flatten out the tread some and help it fit.
For the 37" "MTs" with a 17x8.5 rim that I tried, I did not remove the heat shield, and could only get the Patagonia to fit.

Interested in this. Looking to go to 38s at next tire change, but fitting a spare is a requirement.

Is a Method 313 17x8.5 4.75BS/0 offset wheel. I mounted it with the painted face up to protect it from rocks and I could still get the the valve stem to check it. I did air it down a little, snugged the winch and aired back up, but I don't think that was required.

I have Method 17x8.5 with Mickey Thompson MTZ in 37x12.50 and was able to fit it yesterday without "adjusting" the heat shield. I do have some miles on it, but it looks like I would fit a 38 with a little wear. Metalcloak track bar. Room at the hitch and bar.

I edited the first line in the opening post to reflect that I did note some discoloring on the tire after a 5300 miles trip with lots of hard towing through the Rockies. Going to wrap the pipe in that area and deflate for more clearance!

Wrapped the pipe and adjusted the hanger a little. I have about 1/2" between the wrap and the tire now. Should be good?
