If you have to order a new EGR, it doesn’t come with the crush gaskets. I was lucky to call it in in the afternoon and it arrived the next morning. I hope to get mine installed on the weekend.

My diagnostic tool has an EGR reset that is done when a new valve is installed.
How much was it? What's the part number?

I paid $420 + GST for the valve and $9.20 for the gasket., cuz they like me. The list price for the valve is $664 and the gasket is $19. This of course is in Canadian pesos.

I never had an EGR code so I can only tell you what I’d do if I got a code. I’d first get a pro scanner and pay the FCA license fee to unlock the security gateway which then gives you a plethora of diagnostic abilities to get lost in but the most important thing for me was to reset/relearn stuff including resetting the EGR valve which warns you, should only be done with a new valve.

I don’t know what all an egr valve code would tell you is wrong but my guess would be it’s time to change it out and if you’re good at wrenching and doing small stuff like that, it’s super easy and if you’re not in a rush, you’ll get it swapped out and done in 30 min. A tech who’s done a few can have it done in 15 min and the dealership would charge you an hour I bet.

I did notice my mileage improved since doing the swap. A short drive on Saturday and then driving to work and back yesterday and today are the first drive cycles and where I would have seen 14L/100 (16.8 mpg city/freeway mix), I now see 11.9L/100 (19.8 mpg).

My smog test shows the EGR is still red and I’ve come to understand well that several drive cycles or several days is needed to be ready.

My engine drives well and when I receive the code, I'm just cruising on the highway. I'll see what the dealership finds out.

Let us know what they say.
any news?
Well the first time I took it in, they didn't have enough time to diagnose but the second time they did and discovered it was a faulty EGR valve. When pulling the intake cover off the damage the studs, so those will be replaced under warranty. Otherwise, they had also said that it could be a camshaft which they surmised was throwing a code because of low oil. My third party warranty took care of the EGR and the intake.

After replacing the EGR valve and the intake manifold yesterday, this morning driving into work, the code popped on again.

For those with codes after having the EGR replaced, I replaced mine myself and the diagnostic tool recalibrated the valve. It instructed that only a new valve should be recalibrated. I haven’t had a code appear afterwards,…well, I didn’t have a code to say I had a problem with it to begin with, I just thought it had lived a good life and it was showing red in my smog test but was not throwing a code.

So I guess I’m just wondering if the valve was recalibrated for you guys having codes after having a new one installed.

Good point. I would assume the stealership did it correctly. Thx for the info. If I decide to return I’ll have to get details.
