I have a trip to Moab this summer and looking to do the White Rim.

I have 2 rotopax fuel cans but find them to be a pain to have to burp every so often. Do you find that you have to burp the jerry cans every so often? Either due to heat or altitude changes? Any issues with leaking due to heat/altitude?

Anyone else can chime in as well.
Took rotopax fuel and water containers from 5000’ (Denver) up to 13,000’ in the Rockies several times, never burped them. I don’t ever fill them up completely, to hopefully avoid problems. Enjoy the White Rim. Canyonlands is amazing. Post pics when you get back home

We actually ended up bagging the White Rim. My buddies I met out there were already there for a couple days and the heat had wiped them out. Who’d a thunk the desert was so hot?! 😂

I did get to do the Top of the World. Didn’t think I’d make it on a stock Mojave. Thank goodness for skid plates! 😂

On a recent camping trip, a friend had installed vent caps on his fuel cans and they worked great. He simply twists to relieve pressure when needed.
I got back home, ordered these and spent 20 minutes installing on two cans. Looking forward to testing them in Utah in late March.
Plan to install on two more 5 gallon cans that I use when staying remote for longer periods.

Stupid question but how did you fish that bolt on the inside?

My friend had bought the kind that had to be fished through the fill opening. He said they included a stiff wire and instructions and it took a bit, but it worked.
I took the easy way out, these just push in from outside. Inside brass is exact size of drilled opening, then narrows where rubber grommet is located. Worked grommet in from one side and used a stiff plastic paint scraper to help me push rest of it in as I worked around. Then spun it to ensure it was free of wrinkles before tightening. They have a slot in valve to hold bolt firm while you tighten the nut down to compress grommet. Tested both by leaving valve at bottom and no leaks. Hoping grommet lasts, and since it will stay dry at top most of the time, I believe it will for a long time. Keeping of two of them as spares in case a grommet does leak at some point.
