Good day we are going to be purchasing a 2024 Gladiator. For those Of you that tow your Gladiator behind a motorhome what braking system are you using ? An I plan on removing the stock bumper an installing a after market bumper that is built for towing , any suggestions on bumpers ? I will be installing a Winch when I do the bumper . I do have a blue ox AVANTI tow bar good for 10,000 #s .

What motorhome, what Glad, setup?

I use the NSA ReadyBrake which attaches to the towbor. If I were to start over, I'd use the NSA Ready Brute Elite setup which has the towbar safety cables and braking system in one kit. I use the stock bumper and installed the RoadMaster baseplate. Very simple (for those with the tools and skills) to install the entire package on a Jeep, very easy to hookup for towing, easy to unhook.

Mines a '21 with std (bulb) tail lights so interfacing with them was fairly easy. I know nothing about LED connections.

Hi! We tow our 2022 Gladiator named Russell behind our Class A diesel pusher. We use a Roadmaster tow bar with an Air Force 1 system. We have air brakes and the Air Force 1 is an easy hook up for the lights and brakes.

We considered changing out Russell's front bumper, but ultimately decided not too. We've been very happy with this system and had no problems. I hope this helps.

We use the NSA Ready Brute Elite tow bar/brake system, connected to a Rugged Ridge Spartan bumper with Blue Ox adapters. Wiring is with a home made version of the CoolTech LLC harness.

roadmaster tow bar (better than the Blue Ox IMHO) and I use an aftermarket bumper and swap to the brackets that use the D-ring bumper points. I also drill out the brackets and use 1” pins to eliminate play. I’ve been towing a jeep for a long time and never used a brake system…brake systems are not necessary IMHO. Thor weighs almost 20,000 pounds and a 5500 Jeep isn’t going to present any issues, even in a panic stop.

I’ve been back and forth across the country 10 + times, and countless winter trips in the southwest. No plans on a brake system in my toad, but I always add a plug on the front bumper to use the stock running and brake lights.

We use the Rockhard 4x4 Aluminum Patriot bumper. THe tow tabs bolt through the buumper to the frame. It works great and avoids having a tow par hanging below to hit rocks and stumps.

We use a Blue Ox Patriot braking system. Works beautifully. THe only difficulties are"

1. You need to add an always hot 12 v outlet to plug the Blue Ox braking system into. This is very easy.

2. You need to add a chaging cable from your 6 pin connector to the battery to keep the battery from draining (this is true for any braking system if you have LED taillights - when the brake pedal is touched at all, it turns on the computer (BCM) which stays on for a while. Also you are powering your braking system from the Jeep battery in most cases (unless you have the air force braking system).).

3. You need to connect the tail lights to the 6 pin reciever if you want turn signals to work on the Gladiator. This is normally done with a simple to instal wiring harness kit. Unfortunately the kits they sell for the gladiator do not work with the gladiator I think probably becuase of the LED lights. The connectors are completely different. So far we ahve not found a solution. For now we use rechargable magnetic tail lights that work through bluetooth signals from the motorhome connector. (However this prevents charging through the 6 pin connection, so we have to run a seperate wire).

I have a rubicon thats built out 7K+ so here is what I did. Also towed my JK/LS 6900lbs
I used a HK Offroad shackle kit. IMO strongest connection.
Bought a Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All-Terrain Tow Bar used for $350
Bought a Gen-Y 10k adj 10k tow hitch whick I braced... I'm anal.
Bought a RVI 3 brake controller used $400

Tows perfect as strong as possible and light.
Added benefit is the bumper sits forward about 1" so a Warn Zeon 12ks can be installed without removing the bumper and the grill can be removed with the winch in without cutting all the lower tabs off .

If you don't need brakes for your flat tow, I posted this suggestion in another thread for lighting...

I have a suggestion, and I've thought about this a lot for if I ever got a Class C or A motor home and want to flat tow my Gladiator (instead of my Gladiator being the towing vehicle for my travel trailer).

In the rear bumper are two reflectors that are just sitting there, reflecting on their value to the overall scheme of things.

Is it possible to cut them out and replace them with working lights that you can wire like you would a utility trailer, with a flat 4 connection? They would then give you rear running lights, turn signals, brake lights, hazards, just as if you were towing a utility trailer. Wiring would be extremely simple with no tapping into your Gladiator's wiring what so ever.

Just my $0.02 ($0.03 Canadian).

Every time I see someone towing a Jeep behind a nice motor home I wonder why would they do that as opposed to buying a nice flat bed trailer built for this purpose. Maybe someone can answer that question for me? Really just curious.

ICE?
If your referring to mine?
I have a home on wheels that has everything you could need.
Its for vacationing with my wife and the Cat.
I can sight see in the Jeep with my wife etc then if I want take the Jeep on harder trails.
Trailering a jeep behind a MH adds a big issue as many parks barely fit a big class A and have no area to bring a trailer. Additional expense of buying/maintaining etc a trailer.

Sorry, typo which I just fixed, I meant NICE motor home and yes I get that some of them are very nice homes on their own, I've been in a few that were over 7 figures. That's why I keep thinking hey you sprung for a very expensive MH and relatively expensive Jeep, why not go the extra few $$$s to get a good trailer to tow it in an not risk any damage to the vehicle.

In your case I get the "parks" thing though I avoid such places like the plague, probably why I don't know much about RVing in general. I towed a good sized CC boat all up and down the east coast for many years and I never thought trailer maintenance was much of an issue or expense. And from what I read here looks like modifying the Jeep for towing is not a cheap or easy endeavor. But Ok that's one take on it, I wonder if there are more.

Thanks
