Here's a Hall effects synchronized linear actuator and control. These are overkill at 400 lbs each. I'm wondering if I can do the straight lift with just (2) actuators, since it's a pretty small top?? I could cheap out and get simple actuators, but they may not lift straight.

AND...that gas mileage decrease is unacceptable. What is Jeep telling you?
They don't have clue. I think the issues are that they don't have techs with any experience with the eco diesel.

A couple more Australian lift systems. I haven't found a supplier for these in the US. Looks like England and Australia are ahead of North America when it comes to Pop Top Systems.

So here is another option. Use (4) pneumatic struts like Project M. Instead of two front and two back, I would put them on the sides.

By the way, the total weight of both shells is 170 lbs. Still pretty light.

Now since the transition in on I can trim the inside opening. I left 6 inches in the front for additional strength since there isn’t much material there. I ran out of fiberglass tape so I'll have to wait to finish glassing the transition to the shell.
