Well 16k miles on mine with no issues until recently, my transmission makes a whine, while going up hill revving high. Normal driving it doesn't do it. I noticed it this weekend, heading up to Tahoe.

And now Consumer Reports says the Gladiator is the only Jeep they’d recommend. I’m assuming those of us with major issues in the first few miles (for me a rear axle leak) must be in the minority then or those companies do next to no research. You’d think they’d check this forum out at least.

If this helps resale values then I guess I’m all for it.

Overall I'm happy with mine closing in on one year in. My only complaints is the auto start thing (ole lady hates it as well) and I wish first/reverse gears were a bit lower geared (manual). Otherwise, seems well built. Really hoping to keep it for a long time, eventually replace it with a different daily driver.
With ya on the gear ratios. First and reverse are too high and 6th should be swapped for a granny.

Guess I avoided the “bunch of hooey” - I am eight months and 5,500 miles in with my 80th Anniversary Edition and haven’t had one issue - everything works perfectly - great performance and build quality - one happy camper so quit yer bitchin.
Just making sure you know shadowspapa was being sarcastic. Just clarifying.

Yep - liked the first so much, and had such great luck with it, I bought another without any reservations.

Forums are a bad sample for reliability. Lots of people join forums to either get help with a problem or complain about one. If you’re an average person that’s happy with your car but not an enthusiast, you don’t typically participate on a forum or join just to say how much you love your car.

Most people aren’t weirdos like me who can talk cars all day long.:)

You and me both, though only on a professional level (diesel tech) for a relatively short period of time. If it has four wheels or floats I’m definitely into it.

My diesel experience is with heavy equipment, tractors, combines, whatever - and limited at that - mostly maintenance and so on.
It was gas all the way and it seems the more gas it consumed, the more I liked it.
And yes, the hair was an issue after a while. It got long enough it would get tangled in creeper wheels.
