Having owned two Colorados, a 2016 Ext Cab 4x4, V6 Z71, I paid $33k for was trouble free plus towed a 4,000 lbs travel trailer all over the east coast and Texas Gulf Coast and Pigeon Forge areas. With a total of 69,000 miles. I got $25k for in trade on. The second was a 2019 Crew Cab 4x4, V6 WT, we also paid $33k for. Again trouble free, but with a 5,600 lbs travel trailer and towed with ease. For 78,000 trouble free miles, then received $22k in trade on our 2024 Gladiator Sport S. I can definitely say the build quality and materials all over are higher, the ride is better especially off road, the only improvement the Colorados had over my Gladiator, was the independent front suspension and rack and pinion steering system was more precise, handling better on road, but harsher. Both have same size engine, the Chevy having a little more on paper, but not noticeable, mileage was a little better in the Chevys, but not by much. Can’t say anything about towing because we sold them. Got tired of trying to find availability camp sites in State Parks especially due to lower prices and more space and nicer areas, that are to expensive for private owners to make $$$, especially waterfront areas, but try to get one!
I disagree with the similar power. My 2018 Colorado would absolutely smoke my Gladiator in a race. The 2017+ of that body style does 0-60 in 6.1 seconds bone stock. Gladiator is like 8 sec

Overland was 7.2
The heavier Rubicon with heavy larger tires is closer to 8
Tires matter. The rolling resistance of the Mojave and Rubicon tires must be big compared to Sport and Overland versions.

So, really, we're talking 1 second difference. Big deal. (unless you take it to the track, then it is)

I can believe that after owning one of the new Tacomas. I had a 24 TRD that grenaded the transmission around 3800 miles.

I like my Gladiator WAY better. It even rides better in my humble opinion.
Wow..….….….That’s a shame….. I wonder if they got the ‘frame rust’ figured out?
I had a 2007 Tacoma that was affected - they replaced the entire frame and I remember taking it back because there was stuff they forgot to tighten…😳 Needless to say, I traded it for a 2016 Canyon not long after that.

Who cares about a race….who buys these trucks to race. 😆
I had a 2016 Canyon for 9 years. Great truck and never had a lick of problems with it. It’s definitely on my list of trucks to buy again….

I care because they are fun to drive in comparison and it’s noticeably more powerful when towing. I’ve towed a lot with more.

2015-2016 were slow like the gladiator. 2017+ they got the 8 speed auto and the and the much better LGZ 3.6l. Total game changer. It took almost two seconds off the 0-60. I belief it was was car and driver that ran into the 99 mph top speed limiter on their 1/4 mile run or it would have broken 100 mph in the 1/4

Well, driving both regularly, it’s a huge difference. In regularly driving and in towing. The 2017+ has the only good version of the GM 3.6l and it revs to over 7k rpm. They feel the same in light acceleration, but when you step on it, the LGZ 3.6l pulls hard from 4k-7k rpm. It’s honestly kind of a weird engine to have in a truck, but it’s a great engine and it does truck things just fine. The Gladiator does toe a little better because it’s heavier and has a longer wheelbase, but the Colorado performs admirably and the extra power has been useful when towing in busy areas and steep grades.

Possibly this is caused as previously stated bad paint prep. Could also be from not washing often enough.

3 Gladiators and a Wrangler - no bubbling (so far). Iowa owns all of the salt mines in North America.

As far as washing - I'll get around to it one of these days..............

I’m not knocking ‘speed’…. believe me…. We have more than enough horsepower in the M4.

I’d love to have a V8 in the Gladdy…. Not for the speed, but for the hell of it. 😆
As my mom used to say….”You can’t take it with you”. It’d be fun just to stomp on the gas…..

I guess, now that I’m older… instead of spending money on mods (horsepower, off-roading or whatever) ….. I’d rather use it for vacations, or getting into other hobbies. My husband and I have several hobbies that we buy WAY too much shit for. 🤪

I did own both 2016 and 2019 Colorado and the 8 speed made a nice difference towing, plus off the line from a dead stop. When I posted not noticeable difference, ok I should have added for all the hot rodders out there driving Jeep like their not intended to be, while driving normally at legal speed in every day traffic. But I will add, my Sport S with stock 245/75-17 HT Tires on alloy wheels does an incredible leap from a dead stop with the 3:72 gears, compared with the 3:42’s in the Colorado. A Soort S with Max Tow I believe would have an easy time with the 4:10’s to show any Colorado with 4x4 it’s nice taillights! In total agreement with Shadowman lurking out there!

I see what you’re saying, but the weight difference is too much. The Colorado is considerably lighter. There’s a big difference in power to weight ratio.
