Dropped by my local dealer to try and order a base model Sport. Not even available for them at this time. Does anybody know when those orders might open up?

Travis@TriCity has also told me that the base Sport cannot be ordered yet. Why sell cheap models when you can build big margin models first? Kinda bad for us that just want a basic platform to build on. Hopefully by summer the orders can be taken.

They did the same thing to the Wrangler JL at launch. Base model Sports and manual transmissions were like the last configurations to start being built.

Kinda makes sense they are going to build the high margin models first to recoup as much of their cost up front as they can.

Yup, 3 dealers confirmed base model cannot be ordered at this time. Guessing they will open it up little later this year. I am fine with waiting for a Sport/6MT.
