You can’t really compare rates and prices/trade in prices from Covid era to today. With that said, they are only 2% or 3% more. For those people who put next to nothing down on a $50k+ vehicle, those days are probably over.

I will never normalize always having a car payment. You should always aim to pay off your debt as quick as possible. I know others may disagree, but that is another convo.

It's the economy. Dealers are going to be dropping prices a lot more just to move inventory. High interest rates, high food prices, high gas prices. Most people just aren't buying new cars unless they have to.

I don't think its a matter of just one thing. Supply too high with building out 23s and people wanting to wait for 24s, interest rates terrible and a unique vehicle that has to compete in a mid-size truck market that it is sort of a 'square peg in a round hole' comparison to cushier small trucks.

If you are looking to buy a new vehicle that retains any kind of value, that is always a crap shoot and the COVID market antics seem to have finally died on trading in used vehicles for more or the same you paid on them (for any brand).

If you want a Gladiator and all the assorted Jeep fun (mods, community, off-road use) along with probably the best price options since its inception in 2020: jump on in.

If you are looking to casually buy a Gladiator and then dump it in 2-3 years, be prepared for the usual new vehicle depreciation and make a trade/ down payment accordingly if you don't want to be underwater.

Supply vs demand. Overestimated the demand. Supplied too many. Need to sell them. Lower price increases demand. Price (value) of already purchased (i.e., used) vehicles typically goes down too. Plenty of reasons can be guessed at for why supply exceeded demand. Increased competition, miscalculating people's ability to purchase (inflation pressures), miscalculated the market for this particular style of vehicle, sell price set too high, and on and on.

A vehicle purchase is not an investment. You are buying a tool. If you want to time the market to purchase this tool new at the lowest possible price, buying one of last year's leftovers is a great way to do it.

Let’s not forget that Jeep corporate got greedy and jacked the prices up 12 to 15K in the last couple of years.

The market is just correcting Jeeps mistake!

Mid West GA they are still going for close to MSRP and not many on the lots. We have been seeing the used market come down though.

Sey.
Got mine in TN in Oct at over $13,000 off MSRP. They are still running great deals.
