Nice truck, but if you’re only going to use it for a mall crawler, there’s a whole lot of better options that would handle street driving better. Anything with an IFS front end
I completely agree. I daily drove my gladiator for years, and it's a miserable experience. Poor mpg, poor power, head tossing ride. It now sits in my driveway waiting to be used a tow rig or wheeling rig.

That said, to be productive, the best mods I've done for a daily are the little plastic storage add ons for the console, the reinforcements for the sun visor, seat jackers (user preference may vary). OP, I hope you enjoy your truck. I did for a while. Now I've completely fallen out of love with it and it just sits. It's value has tanked so trading it would be a huge loss.

Thanks, for all of the suggestions and pics. The pics are really inspirational. I have experience modding cars and I know it can get expensive. I always go for vehicles with substantial communities and support for that reason.

I went to an off-road shop yesterday and am getting a spray in bedliner and sidesteps installed Friday. Going to look around a bit before deciding on a tonneau cover. I also may get some 1.5 inch spacers. I asked if they would mitigate some of the tippiness I feel. They said probably not but they look cool. 1.5 instead of 2 inch because the truck isn't lifted. I asked them if I should upgrade to the Fox steering stabilizer since I don't feel planted going down the road and they looked at me like I had lobsters coming out my ears and said no. They also suggested a Rough Country dual exit cat-back. I like flow master American Thunder on V8's and never heard the Rough Country in person. Any experience or thoughts on that?

I also ordered some little things on AMZN like phone mount, center console tray, bug shield for the hood.

For the love of all things Jeep don’t do an exhaust or wheel spacers. The exhaust is just going to be annoying and sound like poo since we have a wobbly V6 and the wheel spacers put extra stress on the suspension and bearings.

Exhaust systems (on 6 cylinders) don’t sound nearly as good as they do on 8’s. Don’t waste your money on it.
I had the American THunder Catback series on my 2007 Tacoma. Neat rumble at idle….was definitely louder upon exceleration but it sounded more ‘ricey’ than ‘rumbly’. Slight drone in the cab that you’d get used to. After about 6 years I took it off and put the OEM exhaust back on. Muffler/pipes rusted holes in it. My mechanic said…”aftermarket exhausts only last 4-6 years” (the steal versions that is). After putting the stock exhaust back on…. It was soooooooo quiet in the cab !!!

Sounds like a kindred spirit! After a long time putting just 2000 miles per year on my C7 Vette I traded it this spring on a 2024 Mojave X JT. I'm having a blast. Not setting it up for off road, but I have been setting it up for a snow and salt filled winter. Added side steps, mud flaps, Xpel, and DIY Woolwaxed it. Looking at tonneau covers at the moment.

I do not miss the C7 at all. Not worrying about curb height, potholes, manhole covers, etc is pretty nice. To approximate my convertible I added a Bestop Sunrider top--great mod.
Yes, kindred spirits. I don't really have a commute since I work from home now. I'll probably never go off road, its just to haul a kayak and soil for my garden. Other than that I'll still tool around in my Mustang from time to time as well.

I chose to stay with stock size tires for gas mileage and handling on my '20 Overland, but did add 2" mammoth wheel spacers for "poke" and side flare extensions that cover the tires edges. IMO it reduced the animal cracker box appearance and makes it look less top heavy while still retaining the ride I like. The flares use the same mounting holes that have the factory removeable "push" rivets that are already in the protective fender liner. Set comes with a set of push rivets.

They make a version for Rubicon and Mojave

Nice touch. Did the spacing change the ride? What about added stress to the suspension?

It's fascinating to me how wildly different folks can feel about driving Jeeps. JL/JT generation Jeeps are, IMO, very well mannered on the road. It's not a luxury car, sure, but I couldn't fathom someone feeling it was miserable. Coming from a place where I had never spent more than $25k on a vehicle before buying my first Jeep, I would rank them as the nicest ride I've ever owned - but more importantly, fun! I look forward to driving since owning Jeeps.

My only thought is... Once you start lifting and putting on big heavy tires, I'm sure it negatively impacts ride quality... Rubicons have softer springs I think as well, so, maybe worse on the road... That's the trade though.

Yup. I ordered one on AMZN the day after I drove it home. Its one of those things you take for granted until its gone.
This is a weird one for me TBH. I have driven mostly manuals in the last 30 years, but both of my Jeeps are autos and I haven't noticed the lack of a dead pedal at all. Maybe I don't know what I'm missing!

I would say a Sunrider should be up there in priority.

I would also look into a method to lock your hood being that it's accessible by anyone. I use this which works with your factory key.

I also bought this cup holder on sale for Prime Day a year or two ago and I can't picture life without it.

I also utilize my roof basket by Smittybilt very often. Doesn't interfere with the Sunrider/Freedom Panels and provides a tie-down point for long items
Definitely agree with the cup holders. Got one for the driver and passenger. Makes road trips and trails even better.

Does the passenger one obstruct the side mirror badly? I remember reading their disclaimer about it around the time I bought mine

Yes, there is some obstruction if there is a drink in the holder; the taller the drink the more the obstruction. Only really an issue for me if we are also towing our popup camper. I live in Phoenix, we always have the two cup holders by the shifter filled occupied by our water bottles. The cup holders are great if you by an additional drink on a trip.

No shit. How many of them are convertible? This whole "JeEp sHoULd oNLy bE uSeD oFf-roAd" shtick is tiring. You're stating something that is 1. Obvious, and 2. Contributes nothing to the conversation because he already owns the truck.

Go climb some rocks
:like::like::like:100% on that.. The Gladiator is the ONLY Truck of it's kind and in it's field. All my rides are either Targa or Convertible🏎🏍. Gotta get out of the cage (Cagers) and stay there... whether or not you get off road... I've been known to crawl curbs and speedbumbs just for the hell of it..

It is very nice to be up high not giving a hoot about all the hazards there are out there. One of my favorite things of my Rubicon, other than its naked-ability, which is truly unique. BUT.. I couldn't part with my 911 TT Cab. BEST OF EVERY WORLD!🏎
