Gremlins in the JT?

This confuses me, why does FCA charge for updates? My dad just had to pay that for a few on his JK and I was kind of shocked that wasn't something done for free when other service occurs. I mean its fixing issues, not like you are really getting anything for free.

What about the rain channels that dump water right on you and your passengers lap? I bought the channel extenders, which work great, but Jeep really should have designed this better... especially since the design was there before the Gladiator.

We had a Gremlin that got squashed by a red light runner back in 1974...

No gremlins on the JT but my JKU has the check engine problem which was linked to the air sensor and gas cap. Took the dealer a few tries to fix but it was fixed.

As the Service Manager told me if its deemed non essential they will not update the software and cover as a warranty item. However if you're having issue with that item they will update as a warranty item. To me its no different than with your computer. If they find issues with the software they do an update and not ask if your having a problem. If I hadn't ask about software updates I wouldn't have know about the non essential ones. They were going to do the Blue essential software as a warranty item.

I own other vehicles and many motorcycles. So I'm a member of multiple forums. If you scan the forums, you'd swear every vehicle/motorcycle I own is prone to some catastrophic failure waiting to happen.

What I've learned is people rarely, if ever post, that everything is okay, which is really the truth. Now it does suck if you happen to be one of the unlucky ones with issues.

And as far as gremlins go, I think it's everyone's threshold for "issues". I'll agree, for the amount of money we spend/spent on these things, they should be perfect! Okay well as much I spent. But it seems in this day and age, nothing is immune. Even my super reliable Toyota Tundra has a minor issue which is the front corner warning "thingys" that tell you when you are close to something only occassionally works.....

Honestly, only issues I've come across are a leaking back window in the hardtop (which was replaced and in doing so they scratched the hell out of the top so now I'm waiting for a new hardtop that's on order.) My second issue is with the uconnect 7 radio flickering when using Apple CarPlay (no fix as of now.)

The only issue I have had with the 2 past Wranglers and Gladiator I now own, was a poorly adjust drag link making my steering wheel off centered. I wouldn't call it a gremlin.
Other than that, it's been a slice.

Oh yeah, I have an extra feature that nobody else seems to know anything about, not even the dealer ...

Sometimes the speakers pop and the screen goes out. Comes back in about 10 seconds. Have to reset clock. Happens on I occasion shortly after starting and leaving the driveway.

You do realize that there's a TSB about that exact thing..... (maybe more than one if I recall correctly)

Thinking about all the things in my house that get free software updates for things that might be issues for small subsets of users, it seems kind of shady to me FCA doesn't update them for free, especially during the warranty period. They should want everybody to have the fix to ensure that consumers are not having issues.

I can already see the future arguments of me and a service manager now.... Or I will need to research and complain about everything there is a fix for, lol

Other than the TSB for the steering box, I've not encountered another issue with my Gladiator. I realize that a forum probably exasperates the number of issues we see/hear about, but did Futterman get it right? I've only owned Jeeps and not experienced any reliability issues. Are these normal annoyances? I get overwhelmed just reading what some other forum members experience

I'm not saying there aren't problems, there are. But, the problems are well within 6 sigma tolerances. As to the complaints here, consider the source. There are 26,000 forum members, and the Internet being what it is, no doubt many of the complaints came from people who became members specifically to drop a complaint and leave. And articles from the likes of "Motor Biscuit" aren't helpful, either. Ill-informed sensationalist click whores who blog for pennies a day on whatever subject pays the best.
That, and when people are satisfied, they generally don't crow about it.
I've had my JT for 30 days. Zero issues. Then again, mine is a 2021 made in December so many of the gremlins may have been exterminated at the factory.
