I know this is a JT and you'll probably kick me off forum but look what parked directly in front of my JT. 1978 CJ. The man restored it with his dad. The color is the Jeep's original color but it's not a Golden Eagle. They added it. Engine restored and runs smoothly. Nice guy, we spoke for a bit.

Had 2 friends in the mid '70's that had the Levi's Edition. One was blue, the other was tan. Both with the 304 V8.

My first ride was a 1974 CJ5 with the 304 V8. It was black with a white soft top and white wagon wheels. So yes, I appreciate your post!

But now after 40 plus years after driving that Jeep and being a dad…probably not the best vehicle for an immature boy’s first vehicle. Funny how many times we cheat death, tickets, jail…
And in my dad’s defense, he did not buy it for me. I saved my paper route money and worked a lot of various jobs to buy it.

I still have my ‘83 CJ-7 I drove to high school (college and first job too). It just looks a little different now.

Cool old Jeep. My first Jeep was a ‘74 CJ5. 304, manual everything. Blew the engine and dropped a 360 in it. Talk about power difference! Traded it in on my first Bronco in ‘84. I’ve missed that old Jeep ever since.

Glad you shared that. I had a 75 /cj5/304 in 2013. Sold it and even had a chance to buy it back a year later. Should have.

Drove a 1976 CJ5 in that exact color in high school. 232 I-6, pretty gutless but capable.

3-spd transmission was junk that year, but the engine was solid.

I have never owned a CJ, my first one was an ‘87 YJ, but that is beautiful.

The CJ's are classic Jeeps!! A friend of ours had one.....as a second jeep. I can't remember the year. He already had a YJ for offroading...but decided to take the CJ out one time. It was a blast until the rust on the gas tank broke thru.

After that...he took it home and he did a frame off restoration on it. We'd go over and help him with it on the weekends. That was fun....Fun times.... It made me want to have a 'project jeep' to work on.

But, life happens...and then you're too old to work on stuff .... because you want to avoid the aches & pains. 😒

So, if you're young and thinking about having a project...don't let the opportunity pass you by.
