When I first saw the video I had a flashback to when I was eight or nine. The family had just pulled up to a store and I jumped out the rear right door because I wanted to open the door for my mom. Dat already locked the doors. I had my left hand on the front edge of the closed rear door and was pushing the passenger front door closed…slam…. Shear white hot searing pain as I caught my index finger first digit…in a now locked door. I couldn’t make a sound. My parents and sister were probably 2-3 car lengths away. I didn’t want to get in trouble…. Then dad looked back to make sure we were all rounded up and saw me stuck to the car. This is when I started crying. Actually, I think I actually took a breath that allowed me to cry due to the pain. Dad…in shock, dropped the keys while fumbling for the oval headed Ford key, which was their separate door key of the time, finally unlocked the door to free me.

Damn he was pissed…. Not at me. Looking back on it, the helplessness he was feeling must have been almost as excruciating as the pain I felt after my finger was freed when the blood re-entered my finger. I ended up losing the nail and to this day some 45-years later it grows a little different than the rest, but memories…lol

I don’t think this is inherently a Jeep issue as much as kids being kids.

As someone who has been in the situation as the "door closer", it's quite confusing. All the sudden someone is yelling and you have no idea why. It's been about 10 years, but I still hear my brother yelling, "Open the door! Open the door! Open the door!" and I still feel bad about it even though there was no permanent physical damage.
For me I can still hear a high school girlfriend saying those words when I closed the door on her hand. Let’s just say that date didn’t go as planned… ?

That is simply user error. Nothing more nothing less. Will be the same for all vehicles if you hold onto the B pillar.

When I was about 13, my grandmother slammed my hand in the top of the car door then locked it. Because she didn't have her hearing aids in, she couldn't hear me screaming. It took my mother 2 or 3 min. to hear me and come get me loose. No broken fingers, but I did loose 2 fingernails.

Seems like it took the rear seat passenger a little while to open the door, especially with all of that commotion. Would think that it would have been kind of instantaneous.

i mean, you can do this with any 4 door car in existence. NEVER touch the B pillar.

For that matter, never touch any pillar while a door is open. You can crush your hands on a, b, c, and d pillars if you're not paying attention.
Yeah - any car for that matter - even a 2 door when kids get in and out of the back. My little brother was not quite 10 when he got his hand in a CAR door - a Plymouth Valiant. He went in to the doctor, they did an xray, nothing broken but there's some lines in the bone the doc said something to do with growth and he was concerned about his bones developing normally after that. All was fine, he turned into a champion weight lifter.

I don't do Tik-Tok
I won't go there - not with the reputation of who and what's there. I'm shocked there's not a "slam your friend's hand in the door challenge" knowing what I've read about that social mediocre place.

Having witnessed what happened with my brother when we were kids and having my own hand in a table saw....... don't need to go there anyway!
Friend lost finger tips putting a belt on a truck when his brother tapped the starter to help rotate the belt on, college prof lost finger tips to a fan, and at least a couple farmers I knew lost things to augers, combine knives and so on.

Probably being inside had no idea what happened outside, not something most people are witness to.
But I bet the whole family and friends are now consciously aware of the issue.:(

Had one of my fingesr crushed in the door when I was like 4 or 5 in the 1970's on some Ford sedan with a door that probably weighed more than a Honda at the time. At least it seemed like it to me. Finger was splinted and had no issue with it after that. Kind of like touching a hot stove, it burns into your firmware to not do that again.

While not graphic, it’s kind of like seeing a guy getting kicked in the nether regions.

I can absolutely see this happening so please keep this in mind so you can caution your passengers!!!
I believe I would have seriously hurt someone once I regained my senses. But I don’t put my hands there either.

As someone that listens to music through headpones while working on a computer, my ears thank you for this gem. ?

but I do feel bad for the girl, that sucks. Almost as bad as getting the drive hatch of m2a3 slammed on your foot.
