Going to be testing it further off grid soon. It has worked great around town. This is a real game changer if you need internet access while in more remote locations.

I agree. I have been doing tests with mine also, it works great. I am designing a mount for the back that I will be able to raise on a pole when parked and it will lower just below the cross rails on the back rack when moving. Will also be easily removable for hard core off road.

That sounds cool. Please post pictures when you get it done. I am going to test it out with this simple setup first. If this location and the cord don't cut it then I'll want to do some sort of pole.

I put an RV Starlink out at a job trailer that we struggled to get any LTE coverage with. Crazy fast. I'd bought the first gen, then immediately sold it to my network admin after my neighborhood got a major upgrade from Comcast.

The waiting and checking accounts is over, two weeks to receive and deploy the RV Starlink, just got a fixed-location Starlink for a new remote office in less than two weeks! This is going to kill the terrestrial wireless providers we have out West, they have gotten no where getting faster/cheaper in the several years they had a chance to try to compete.

Cool roof mount! I just got back from a week with no LTE, so no notebook, and that's they way forward for me, but this being a valid option is COOL! We live in the future!

We sure do! It is a game changer. My only fear is that some of the remote places we like to go to may have more people visiting them now! That is one reason our Gladiators are so cool. We don't have to worry about having a hundred internet connected van lifers going to all of the places we can make it to.

I've tried but can't get it here. And my fear, if using it mobile, I'd end up where it's not yet active (like here)

Yeah, it's not 100% coverage yet. We will be testing across much of the country soon. The reports I've seen so far are encouraging. Any connectivity is better than nothing (other than my InReach) when by yourselves far from civilization.

This was when they deployed the satellites….
None of us on the porch had a clue what this was, what starling was…. Etc. and we literally lived on the edge of Death Valley where weird stuff fly’s all the time….

I'm keeping my eye on it - it ain't cheap by any standards, but the fact it's basically unlimited would be a help.

We had Hughesnet several years ago - I'd never go back to them for any amount. Worthless, they take your monthly allotment and break it down by day so if you use too much that day, get the old modem out as it would be faster. It was crap and I tossed the equipment in the garbage.

Cell works but is limited bandwidth, not cheap, and we are in a valley surrounded by trees.

The low latency of starlink has my interest, too.
But last I checked, we aren't covered, and I've talked to people who have tried to sign up and they've been waiting months, and their deposits went through - then the price went up, and many complain of no support.
Growing pains........

The opposing side…. Still doesn’t make it any less weird… ?? stripped butte is on the southern tip of DV- it’s a higher elevation valley and basically blocks any small amount of surrounding light….. interesting and weird things…… still my number 1/ 2 favorite place to camp!

As always, the proof will be in the pudding. I'm hoping it lives up to my expectations at this point I'm not counting on it. Price isn't really a concern. At this stage of life I'm more interested in living how I want than putting away $$.

A lot of promise for the future certainly. It won't be perfect for all situations. You valley surrounded by trees is not an ideal situation for this type of satellite system. Hopefully it will work well for you at some point.

We spent some time in Butte Valley earlier this year. Absolutely loved that area. I think my favorite night was camping on the Panamint Range on the Pleasant Canyon Loop. That is a really special area. We did see some very interesting planes flying over now that I think about it!

We've done put away, now we're taking out, and lately - there's less to take out if you have watched financials.

Our valley isn't like in other states - you can walk out. We have decent sight of most of the sky.
The trouble is that signals for TV, Radio, cell and so on can't get to us. From the sky - yeah.

Our weather has been so bad (hot and HUMID) that signals are bouncing off the air layers causing weirdness with cell and other signals. (that, or those spacecraft up there are messing with us)

We saw the same thing on Christmas Eve and just looked at one another. It was about a month later we learned what it was.
